The older I get the less I believe in coincidences. There are only God Incidences. :)

I noticed this when I was away camping. For some time I had been corresponding with someone on the forum about a quite famous Irish mystic (whom I am certain is authentic) . Sadly he lives quite a few miles south of here and I never got a chance to go listen to one of his talks.

However while camping I got a text message from someone on the forum that he would talk the very next day just 16 miles from the forest were I was camping.:) The person told me he though Our Lady had tapped him to text me and so indeed I believe she did.

Basically Eddie was a quite successful buisnessman , a butcher but after an apparition of Jesus and the Holy Family he gave everything up, including the family hose,,believe it or not fro full time evangelisation. Incredible especially since he had a large family to support.

One thing sticks in my memory from what he said, he mentioned that on a trip to Rome back in 1990 were he met the Pope and a few Cardinals he was told that two countries were under particular attack from the devil, Ireland and Poland. He also mentioned great attacks coming down the line.

I was struck by his huge humility and simplicity and a quality of..well innocense so rare these days.

I think I noticed two unusual things from seeing him. One was that at one point I saw him glance in my direction and I saw light coming from his eyes.

The second was when I was waiting to go to confession I happened to look at a glass door which served as a mirror and I saw myself , I don;t know how else to put it spiritually.

There was just this overwhelming sense of deep, deep pray all day. God bless Eddie, a man of great faith.

I visit clonfert where Emmanuel House is located regularly and my first trip to Medjugorje was with Eddie,s group. I love him as he is so straightforward. He calls it as it is. He certainly helped me and all my family in our conversion.

He said a nice thing Mary, that we should all rest in God's arm like a little baby. I felt this was so true there, it reminded me of the Upper Room at the descent of the Holy Spirit.

I was writing of see myself spiritually and would love to try to describe this grace but it is difficult. I have a very low opinion of myself as a sinner; experience has taught me this. So much so I often think of myself as a great hypocrite for running this forum and have even sometimes thought about giving it up.

But when I looked in the glass, as in a mirror at Eddie's prayer meeting consoled me greatly. As I looked at myself it was as if it were through the most gentle, sweet king of , 'blurring', it was also as it my face suddenly was suffused with the sweet light of the Holy Spirit. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit in all of us made visible as a loving light.

I found this so consoling and reassuring. It reminded me of a picture I saw of St Benedict in Monte Cassino in Italy with Benedict's face beaming light.

It gave me great hope and joy.

What a lovely thing to experience. I think we all feel like hypocrites from time to time as sin is always lurking but we have to trust. Interesting what he said about Ireland and Poland being under particular attack. I have never seen such anger directed against the church as now. There is a lot of hurt in Ireland against the church because of all the sad revelations and of course this is being stirred up to get gay marriage through. I pray that people will discern that this is an attempt to destroy the family. Did he say anything about the referendum?

He said Mary that we could vote for no party as no party upheld Church teachings, which is so true.

One thing about the prayer day surprised me anew and that was the coming down of the Holy Spirit. He came down so very, very gently like a soft rain. It was only afterwards I realised He had come in such power, like the disciples on the road to Emmaus.

I am afraid I did not pay as much attention to all that Eddie said as I should have I went into what I can only call a , 'Prayer buzz', like Eddie said a baby asleep in her mothers arms. I didnit realise till after what had happened, it was like dozing and praying very deeply at the same time.

I think his humility is very deceptive. He talks about being, 'ordinary' but I think he is a saint. What is more I suspect his wife must be a saint as well.

    What wonderful people.

    Hi Padraig
That was one of my favourite posts. I think I remember a saint saying , "I am nothing plus sin." I am no saint but this is me, until God has finished his work on me. The Cliffs of Doneen has been playing in the background.

I was in Eddie Stones in Clonfert, Co. Galway last Saturday.

I came away with a deeply moved spirit and truly the greatest shot in the arm my faith has received in a while.
This man is really interesting. I don’t know how else to put it other than interesting, and holy; I really admire this man. He gave up everything, to follow Our Lady and fulfill her request ("I want you to give up everything and work for me").
I’ve been waiting and waiting for my chance to go there and to see him and I was invited to go there last week.

Never have I witnessed the things I saw there: People ALIVE with the Holy Spirit, standing, singing and praising God. When Eddie was giving his blessing, I was almost moved to tears as I stood in line (the queue was two hours long!!), I saw Eddie put his hand on the head of a woman who was the same age as me, suffering from cancer. Eddie was praying for God to rebuke the cancer consuming her, as her family held their hands up in prayer too, tears streaming down their faces.
There were others there, post cancer, depression, parkinsons, mental disability, physical disability.
There is a history of healings.

Hes known as a faith healer.
But, 90% of the people were healthy, at least physically and mentally, but hungering at a spiritual level.
I heard others speak of it, but never saw the 'sleep of the spirit' till last week.
Almost like a movie, people (about 40% of attendees), immediately collapsed upon Eddies hand touching their heads, and fell backwards, caught by the volunteers who work there, and were laid out in front of the blessed Sacrament, which was exposed almost all day, except during Mass at 4pm.
Here I was, looking at all the people lying 'asleep' though, fully awake, in front of the alter.
I didn’t collapse down, but those who have say its like a sleep, but you're 100% aware of what’s going on around you, and you are in state of incredibly deep relaxation.
When Eddie came to me, He smiled at me and gave me a great blessing, his hand on my head.
    Its a wonderful atmosphere.
He has been given great gifts: reading souls, visions of the future, visions especially of our friends -the souls in Purgatory.
    He sees demons too.
He was shown hell once or twice and begged God never to let him witness it again.

Over and beyond all the above things I listed, the part the moved me the most was his talking.
He spoke for ages, hours, but his talk is mixed with rosary and singling, and jokes; his delivery of his message, is incredibly well done. So even though its a message of incredible seriousness, he does so with humour so as not to freak us all out. He also doesn’t dance around PC nonsense – he’s straight out with it – speaking openly about abortion and SSM – the type of direct talk that we really should be hearing from the pulpits, but for whatever reason aren’t.

If you ever get a chance to go there - jump at it.
    The prayer.
    The blessing.
    Eucharistic adoration.
    The healings.
    The singling
    The incredible talks.
Your faith would be rock solid after a day there (its a full day - starting at 10.30am and ending after Mass at 5pm).
Listening to Eddie talk, a man who has seen Our Lady and Our Lord, who is approved and supported by the local Bishop, is the best tonic Ive ever received. And - a clear visible fruit of Medjugorje, where Eddie Stones vocation grew from, he gave the Medjugorje statue a prominent place in the hall where he spoke.

    He's the real deal.

    Just Wonderful!!!!

Yes it's very much a hidden Ireland Mary, all those sort of places where you have little known but still supported pilgrimages, Marian apparition sites, faith healers and holy wells related to different cures.

It's like things are bad in Ireland but there is still a faith left in our out of the way places!

It's also in a sense a hidden population that support them. For example there are lot of out of the way pilgrimage sites supported only by members of the travelling community (often times you can see they were there from the rags they leave delberately placed on bushes) and they usually know the story related to the site too.

I hope to purchase your book on Marian apparitions in Ireland.

I wonder if you had come across a little known apparition from the 1950s at a place now a shrine called Mother of the Hill near Dromara in County Down?

Another aspect of the hidden Ireland!!!

You would probably really enjoy the Waterford Charismatic Conference on Sat 26 and Sun 27 September. It's on in the Rhu Glen hotel, Slieverue, Co. Kilkenny, starting at 10am both days. I've been going to it for the past few years even though I am not hugely into the hand-waving, praying in tongues, etc. Eddie Stones gave a talk and healing service at it a couple of years ago; he is not speaking this year but Frances Hogan is and she is worth hearing. Also Fr Fio Mascarhenas (not familiar with him myself).

Thanks for that Adoremus, I'll bear that in mind, the Rhu Glenn is not far from me.
I'd no idea until you mentioned it.
You obviously find it special seeing as you've gone for the last few years?
Did you enjoy Eddies talk there?
Francis Hogan would be well worth attending for.

Yes absolutely Garabandal, it's a chapter in said venerable tome.

I had to leave out the visionaries name though but I was able to include an account of the episode written originally by his mother.

It's annoying how many Irish mystics I have left out though, I only found out about them later. Eddie Stones should have been mentioned for example.

Yes I love going to it as it's very joyful and uplifting and it's great just to be around likeminded people. Eddie Stones was powerful. Frances Hogan spoke at it last year as well and was very inspiring, she was talking about Jonathan Cahn's books and how to prepare spiritually for what lies ahead. Considering how much has happened in the world since this time last year I'm sure she will have plenty to say again so I'm really looking forward to hearing her.

Amazing how many significant people have read Cahns books: Michael Brown, Francis Hogan, Eddie Stones.
(The markets will be interesting to watch over the next week.)
Well, I'll keep the Rhu Glenn in mind at the end of the month.

If you don't mind please keep us informed of the weekend experience at the end of the month - I find it uplifting to hear from such inspiring people as Frances Hogan and Eddie Stones and 'what they are sensing in the spirit'.
