In 2014, Boko Haram became known worldwide when members kidnapped nearly 300 girls from a school in Borno State. On March 7, 2015, five suicide bombers killed 54 and wounded nearly three times as many in the capital city of Maidaguri, where the bishop lives and works.

The group has killed 1,000 people across Nigeria in the first three months of 2015, according to Human Rights Watch, which reports that more than 6,000 have died in Boko Haram-led violence since 2009.

Just last month, the group pledged its allegiance to ISIS – also known as the Islamic State – which launched a bloody campaign in Iraq and Syria last summer.

Meanwhile, Bishop Dashe has just completed a “consolation tour” to communities in his diocese, promoting forgiveness and continued faith. He believes he was asked by Jesus to spread devotion to the rosary in order to aid them as they do so.

“Maybe that’s why he did it,” said the bishop, referring to Jesus in his vision.

Bishop Dashe said he has a strong devotion to Christ’s mother, and that “I never joke with ‘Mamma Mary.’ I know she is here with us.”

And he is not the only Nigerian bishop putting the future of the country in the hands of Mary. The nation’s bishops’ conference has consecrated the country to her twice in recent years.

Bishop Dashe believes that one day his diocese will completely recover and grow thanks to her intercession.

Won't He? He allowed abortion, pedophilia, beastiality etc etc. I would have expected His hand to come down looooong ago but.......nope. Sorry, I'm a bit cynical today. Our greatest nightmare would be for Him to never stop us, to let us destroy ourselves.

^^^I believe he held his hand back in these past 100 years for two reasons. One, he told St. Faustina that he would open the door of mercy for a time before it shut and judgement came. Second, he allowed the devil 75-100 years of rule per St. Leo's vision. He would not interfere if He allowed this.

If the messengers of today are correct (and I think they are) we are in the Tribulation now and it will progress. His mercy will continue at least through the Year of Mercy, but that will not stop the storm that has already begun. I believe Mark Mallett's latest post is spot on again. The storm will hit home to us all in September and it will not end until the Era of Peace promised at Fatima. Every day is one less day before the end of the world as we have known it. Question is, are we prepared? Prepared for a world where only our prayer will guide us. Only in the Divine Will shall we persevere. All will participate or be swallowed up in the purification. He made us for this time. How shall we respond?

I feel the climax of the Year of Mercy will end with the Warning.

I heard about this yesterday on the Gus Lloyd show on Sirius XM-The Catholic Channel. I was disgusted and incredibly sadden at where we are with this. An abortion spa? So now women can get an abortion like they would go and get a manicure or pedicure. There is also a youtube video of the commercial being shown in the Maryland/DC area promoting this thing.

Have you watched the latest web cam pictures of the eruption in Calbuco , Chile?

They are just awesome, a cause for prayer and the fear of the Lord.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

I'm by no means a financial/market expert- in fact I'm below novice :). But, I think this article makes it pretty clear and is just another sign of how precipitously close we are to economic collapse. My take on the article is governments just keep printing money which just makes it less "valuable" when all the "smoke and mirror" tricks no longer fool anyone. Like the article says, no one really knows when the tricks fail. But we do know it will lead to utter chaos. Not meant to post as an alarm as there is not much any average person can do. As has been said so many times here, the best prep is prayer, confession, and the Eucharist. I suppose any physical preps would be on storing up some basic supplies and for me the biggest challenge and question - how I plan to protect my family and just how far I might need to go. This requires lots of prayers for me, but I think the riots this week in Baltimore are a real eye opener. Peace

I am not to sure that "no one really knows" when the economic collapse takes place. I give Jonathan Cahn' "Shemitah" allot credibility that it will take place on September 13, 2015.

My take on preparing in light of news stories such as these (beyond the basics, that is), is to consider that our money will soon be worth less than the paper it's printed on -- but right now it can still be used to build up great treasures in heaven. We can use it to spread the Divine Mercy. We can use it to help pro-life crisis pregnancy centers. We can use it to help out (or start) good apostolates at our Parish. We can use it in our own efforts at evangelization and works of mercy. The list goes on.

Much money in the bank has always been something that simply cries out against us on Judgment Day. (I can't remember which saint said that money in the bank is like water in a well; it becomes putrid if not regularly taken out and put to use). But today we have the additional fact on top of that, that it will soon be utterly useless. Now is the time to be more open-handed than ever before. Not without prudence; we still must care for our families and have them provided for even if our speculations turn out false. But we must put an end to worldly ambitions that have unto now prevented us from doing the good that we could do with the money God has entrusted to our stewardship.

I actually think that a financial collapse in the first world countries would be an act of Mercy. It would force us to detach from things.

I'm not sure this is the best place to put this link but want you all to watch it. It is a powerful speech by Jonathan Cahn spoken April 29th reminding the Supreme Court that they have no authority to redefine marriage. He was speaking at the "Washington: A Man of Prayer" service at the Capitol.

I was thinking this also myself. Actually my aunt a nun said to me that the 2008 downturn in Ireland was one of the best thing that happened to us. Since it brought many back to faith and away from the awful excesses of the Celtic tiger, big houses, cars etc etc. A good humbling.

Michigan, Texas, Mississippi, California, Idaho And Washington All Jolted By Significant Earthquakes
    Michael Snyder

Did you know that Michigan was just hit by the worst earthquake that state has seen in more than 60 years?

In recent days, there has been a series of alarming earthquakes all over the United States. Of course none of these earthquakes was anything like the massively powerful quake that just crippled the entire nation of Nepal, but many are concerned that these earthquakes could be a sign of what is to come. All over the planet, seismic activity is increasing. In fact, I recently wrote about how the number of volcanoes erupting right now is greater than the 20th century’s average for an entire year. At the same time, the surface of the sun has become very, very quiet. As you will see in this article, there are scientists that link the two. It is believed that times of very low solar activity have something to do with a rise in seismic activity, and there is one scientist that is claiming that solar activity is declining faster “than at any time in the last 9300 years” right now. So what does this mean for the future of our planet?

Before we get to that, let’s review some of the very unusual earthquake activity in the U.S. that we have been witnessing lately. As I mentioned above, the state of Michigan was just hit by the worst earthquake that it has seen in more than 60 years

If you thought you felt an earthquake on Saturday — you did. And it was one of the strongest quakes ever experienced in Michigan. Paul Caruso, a geophysicist with the United States Geological Survey, said an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 and a depth of focus of 5.9 km was measured around 12:23 p.m. about nine miles southeast of Kalamazoo, near Galesburg. Dozens of residents in several different regions beyond Kalamazoo — from Mount Pleasant and Sterling Heights to Lansing and even as far as Cleveland, Ohio — called the WWJ Newsroom and reported feeling a rumble and the ground shake for between five and 10 seconds.

If that was all that happened, it wouldn’t be that big of a deal. But at the same time, unusual earthquakes are striking all over the country. For instance, check out what just happened in Texas

North Texas was rattled once again with an earthquake early Sunday morning.

The USGS confirmed that the 3.2 magnitude earthquake struck about two miles north-northeast of Irving at about 10:11 a.m.

NBC 5 viewers reported feeling the earthquake in Irving, Dallas and here at the NBC 5 studios in Fort Worth near Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

This follows a string of earthquakes in the area just last month.

And nobody really ever thinks of Mississippi as a place for earthquakes, and yet the state was just hit by two of them. According to the USGS, a magnitude 3.0 earthquake and a magnitude 3.2 earthquake shook up the residents of Canton, Mississippi over the weekend.

In addition, on Sunday morning Los Angeles was hit by a magnitude 3.8 earthquake

A shallow magnitude 3.8 earthquake was reported Sunday morning one mile from View Park-Windsor Hills, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 4:07 a.m. PDT at a depth of 5.6 miles.

The quake was classified by the USGS as “light” but was felt over a wide area of the L.A. basin.

Not to be outdone, the Bay area in northern California was hit by a magnitude 4.0 earthquake on Sunday afternoon

A 4.0 magnitude earthquake rattled San Francisco Bay Area residents Sunday afternoon.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported the quake hit about one mile south of the city of Concord.

Of course it is not really a great surprise for California to get earthquakes. The state had been fairly quiet for several decades, but everyone knows that it is just a matter of time before “the big one” comes. Could these mid-size quakes be a sign that the region is starting to wake up?

Meanwhile, sizable quakes are also being reported in regions of the country that are not typically known for seismic activity. In fact, northern Idaho was jolted by two substantial earthquakes on Thursday night

Two earthquakes — a magnitude 4.1 and a 4.2 — jolted north Idaho on Thursday night, with residents from northeastern Washington to northwestern Montana saying they felt the tremors.

It is fairly easy for scientists to explain the earthquakes in California. But what is with the quakes in Michigan, Mississippi and Idaho? Something very unusual appears to be happening.

At the same time, volcanic activity is rising all over the planet. In fact, scientists believe that a submarine volcano off the northwest coast of the United States may have just erupted
