As most here know, I lost my brother suddenly and unexpectedly almost 2 weeks ago now. Thank you all for your prayers for him and my family. I had a feeling that, despite being an atheist, his soul had been saved. He had said a sentence here or there that indicated he was thinking about God and His existance. And I think he was taken so suddenly and unexpectedly because his soul was at a point it could be saved, where if he lived through the events it would not have been.

My mom revealed to me tonight that an amazing thing happened to her as we were all in the car on the way to the hospital to say our good-bye's. The car was silent as we were all in shock, mainly just thinking we could not believe it. My mom said as she was thinking this, she suddenly heard my brother's voice in her head "Mom, I love you very much". she was surprised, and immediately in her head she asked the question if he was with dad (our dad died 14 months ago) and before she could finish the question in her head, she heard my brother say "Yes mom, I am with dad", and she could tell by his voice he was smiling. She said that without a doubt at all it was my brother's voice.

How awesome and wonderful is our God, giving consolation like that for my mom! I lt has made this difficult cross for my mom easier...although she still is not happy about it. all I can say is WOW!!

I guess if we fully knew how good our God really is, we wouldn't be able to handle it. Thanks for this update PotatoSack.

I think this shows how important it is to pray for souls especially fallen away family members and friends. I think this is why at Fatima Mary told us to more souls go to hell because no one prays for them. That's why sometimes I think all it takes is one family member who is faithful and God will hear their plea for an entire family. At least that's what I hope!

    God Bless!

Bernadette - me to. I seem to be the only one praying in my family, so I pray for all of them. So many of my family and friends now say they are athiests (really they mean satanists). I just keep praying for them. Then I decided to do the five first Saturdays for them, one at a time. I asked a priest if it would be OK to do this and he said yes. I will include David (from the David thread) in my next 5 Saturdays - I am finishing one tomorrow Please God and will start his in December. Its slow going, there are so many, but I feel it is worth it.

That is a great idea! We're going to start our 2nd First Saturday tomorrow. I hope God allows us to offer the First Saturday for more than one soul because we probably don't have enough Sat. to get everyone in before the End!:)

    God Bless!

Yes, I am beginning to understand that my understanding of God's mercy so tiny compared to what it is. His mercy is like all the oceans of the earth multiplied by 1,000 and that is still not enough. The beautiful thing about the grace my mom got is she was not expecting it at all, as something like that has nevr happened to her, so she wasn't asking for a sign.

LIke you guys, I am the prayerer for my family, along with my mom. I used to pray for one family member, then another, etc. But, since my consecration to Mary, I just pray and don't worry about praying for a particular family member. I believe our mother has all my family members in mind. My job is simply to pray a rosary and DM chaplet every day and let my mother multiply my prayers and take care of my family. So far it has worked out pretty well!!

St Francis, apparently was one time asked who and what he prayed for. He answered that he prayed for nothing and no one but was just content to pray. In a sense Francis had moved on from praying to becoming prayer, so to speak.

This does not mean petitionary prayer has not got a place in his and our lives. Jesus Himself asked for stuff, though it is very noticeable that the stuff Jesus prayers for is kind of higher order. But it does mean a change of emphasise a kind of inner contentment that all is best in the best of all possible worlds. That to pray is in itself to have all prayers answered.

    Hebrews 5:7
During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent

I think it is the, 'Reverent submission' part that is the kicker for most of us. We want to put God in a kind of arm lock.:)

    Dearest Potatosack/Cathy,

I don't know how I missed your post about your brother last October. All I can say is that I have had a tumultuous time over the past 4 months and obviously I missed this post.

My brother Brendan died in October 2000 and he was 36 years of age; I know the pain and the questions.

I firmly believe in Gods signal graces and I recieved many after, and even before Brendan died.
Be assured that God has your brother in a safe place.

Below is for you as it was for me on the 27-10-2000.

    Be prepared my daughter.
    For all is well.
For what I have given you.
    Do not be afraid.

Come to me, receive my message,

Receive my peace; receive the word I now give to you.

    Justice has been done.
Remember I speak in many ways, stay close to my Church, do not remove yourself from the truth of my teachings. Brendan your loved one is hear in a safe place. If he was not I would have told you.
I have taken many measures to assure this.
Your prayers have been answered; they have not fallen on deaf ears.

Prayer is needed, he looks to you.
He knows Love now, he sees with a smile.
All things, I give you on earth he sees.

    Amen

I am so sorry I missed this- my prayers for you and your family-
My sister passed away last Thursday after her short battle with brain cancer. I truly thought God wanted to heal her, but I know He will make great good come from both our tragedies.
I look forward to the annual Consecration to the Blesssed Mother with you soon
