These are two statues that I have discovered here in Auckland, both of Jesus at work. The one where he is holding the plane grabbed my attention because His cross which He clasps to his heart, is firmly embedded in the earth over New Zealand. It reminded me of Our Lady of Akita. The other one I was not so sure about. It shows Christ fashioning his own cross. But God did not invent that instrument of torture. That was man. Again it made me think of the Tribulation that approaches, not made by God but by man. In contrast, Jesus knew that every word he spoke and every deed he did was a pass of the plane and a blow of the hammer that formed His cross, His Tribulation of which He was in complete control. As the psychologists say today, He owned His Process. He picked up His cross and followed the Will of His Father. He told us that if we pick up our cross and follow Him we too will join Him in heaven. We just have to remember that He is in complete control but only if we let Him. Lord, remind me of this truth...often. Just a few thoughts. That aside, the statues show Jesus at work. In Garabandal Our Lady placed great importance on attending to our everyday work and duties and doing them as well as possible. How often I have failed in that respect. But I keep on trying. I have posted the following previously but it's worth another since it's about work. "Beyond the clouds that his His hand, There, where thou canst not see. In ways that only He can understand, God works for thee. " He works at the plane and the lathe as he refines our hearts and minds and souls: the Master craftsman. We could not be in better hands.
