    for 5th and 6th class (10 - 12 year olds)
"Do you know what LGBT stands for?
Examine the school's anti-bullying policy. Highlight the words 'homophobic and transphobic bullying'. Ask the children to explain what this means."

Well the good news is that our principal invited feedback on the anti-bullying policy and agreed to take out such specific references! Praise God.
Obviously we don't need to ask the children to explain 'Traveller bullying' or 'bullying tall / fat / freckled/ clumsy kids' coz that never happens!

If you are on a parents council please take every opportunity you can to revise policies!

The majority of schools in Ireland are under patronage of Catholic Church but the state sets the curriculum. This program is being introduced as anti bullying by the state. The church can teach religion but has no control over the curriculum. We don't have a system of private education. We never needed it as Catholic education was what happened in public schools. We really have our backs to the wall

And that is why parents have to engage with the principal.
Our principal distributed a policy to the Parents Council which i assume was just cut and pasted from the Dept. of Education. It was jammed packed with homosexual and transgender references.
Through the grace of God I actually read what was in the envelope coz I could have easily just stuffed it into a 'to do' pile for months.
I went through it with a colored pen and crossed out all the reiteration and extra weigh being applied to these issues of the Equality legislation.
There was just no sense in why it was given so much weigh when there are 9 issues in total specified in the legislation, and surely to put extra emphasis on one or two areas is to discriminate against the others!

the nine discriminatory grounds mentioned in Equality Legislation (gender including transgender, civil status, family status, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, race and membership of the Traveller community).
It was relatively easy to just point out the reiterations etc and the principal was quite happy to go with the leaner version of the policy. (He's a great guy, thank God).
So no need for aggression but don't take it lying down, just engage (and pray!)

There are few reasons why we chose homeschooling over Catholic schools. First, the cost is a huge factor. There are two Catholic schools in my area and both cost nearly $6,000.00 per student per year. That would be about $12,000 per year for us with two children. Breaking it down would be over $1000.00 per month (both schools use a 10 month payment programs). This does not include uniforms and other supplies my girls would need. That is too much for us with a mortgage, car payment, insurances, student loans, and our other regular expenses in our budget. Even if we got rid of extras, which is not much, we would still not be able to afford it. Also, the one Catholic school only goes up to 6th grade so my older daughter would have to bused over an hour away for the nearest Catholic high school- which also costs about $5,000.00 per year for middle school and more for high school.

Also, both Catholic schools use mostly secular curriculums and one of them has aligned itself with Common Core (which is one of several reasons we pulled our daughter out to homeschool). I use Seton Homeschool curriculum which is 100% Catholic and incorporates the Faith throughout all subjects. It is advanced and is an acredited correspondence school out of Virginia. I also have the option of enrolling my girls when they reach high school and they can receive a high school diploma once they complete the program. This year I spent about $500.00 all together on curriculums and supplies for both of my girls. $500.00 vs. $12,000.00! Homeschooling makes sense for us and our family. We are very involved in our parish and both of my girls participate in the Religious Education program for their study and for their Sacraments.

Sadly the Principal of our local school has not responded to letters looking for information. You are lucky to have a Principal who engages with parents. Are you on the parents council? Here the parents representatives are selected by the school and seem unwilling to rock the boat. I'm praying for all the children. People seem to be brainwashed.

    Ally,

I agree that it is the better choice. But homeschooling is not only a educational choice, it is a lifestyle choice. I hope there are other like-minded Catholic families in your area. You should realize that New York State is in the top five most restrictive states in the country. If you can, it would be wise to join HSLDA. We had to call upon them two times to get the school district off our backs over the years. We are in our 20th year of homeschooling; Danny, our youngest, is a senior!:ROFLMAO: Your family is in our prayers. If you need any advice, I'm sure my wonderful wife, Geralyn, would be willing to listen. Just PM me and I'll give you her cell number.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, pray for us!

Thank you so much for your support and prayers Mario! I've learned that NY state is one the least homeschool friendly states. There is so much paperwork between letters of intent to quarterly reports. Oy! We are members of HSLDA and thankfully, I haven't had to call on them yet. Wow 20 years of homeschooling! That is awesome and I may very well be calling on your wife for information on how to handle high school transcripts and so forth. I am kind of nervous about it.

Blessings! St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, pray for us!

There is a Board of Management which is handpicked as far as i know.
The Parents Council has an AGM at the start of the year. If you go to that you are considered to be on the ccouncil. If you aren't there and don't send your apologies then you're not in.
A school anti-bullying policy is probably on their website or readily available in the school. It isn't something they would normally 'hide'.
But again i say, principals get loads of hassle. Have a helpful role in the school, volunteer, do stuff, be of actual service in Pope Francis language, and then you are more likely to be heard when you raise concerns. The last thing you want is for the principal to just see trouble when he sees you!
But we do have the best principal in Ireland so that helps even more!

The AGM was last night and my son is the new chairman so that's good. The principal is holding all materials locked in her office. She is waiting to hear from the bishops. There is a meeting scheduled between bishops and school managers to discuss this program. Hopefully our children will be spared this diabolical plan. Keep praying

It must be remembered that all this propaganda directed at children is about prepping and grooming them. The next liberal campaign is likely to be to reduce the age of consent. A sign of the times is a recent article in the influential, liberal on-line magazine "Salon" by a paedophile claiming not to be a monster and making the case that his sexual preferences were perfectly acceptable within a broad spectrum of various and diverse preferences and demanding that his desires be facilitated as being perfectly normal as long as he didn't act upon them. This is only the beginning of normalisation of such satanic behaviour, and the aim will be that, much as tolerance of overt homosexuality led to the glorification of sodomy, normalisation of paedophilic preferences will eventually lead to the celebration of sex between adults and "consenting" children. We'll be well through the Gates of Hell then, but how is it to be stopped?

Sounds like maybe she is more alert to the problems than you think - the generic anti-bullying policy circulated should def be kept under lock and key if children are around!

    Co
    Couldn't agree with you more.
I could never understand why God allowed the child sex abuse by priests to occur. It was just too horrific a thing to even consider not to mention inflict on the most innocent.
But I read an interesting article lately that showed how sexual permissiveness has increased in all areas in the last 50 years. The only exception is with regard to child/adult sex - and the main reason for that is because of the abuse in the Catholic Church. It was so abhorrent that the general public are still resistant to the concept of sex with children.
But how long does the general public remember anything?
I'm sure they'll become more merciful and tolerant of our abusive priests as time goes on...
    Lord help us.

Perhaps God permitted the scandals in the Church in order to prime the people against paedophilia. The paedophiles would have been much further along their hellish road but when the scandals in the Church began to emerge the liberals were presented with an irresistible opportunity to almost destroy Her and necessarily had to chose to stall the paedophilic agenda. The softening-up process has recommenced. Lord help us, indeed.
