'Exorcist' Author Attacks Georgetown University - HuffPost William Peter Blatty Claims Georgetown University Not Acting Catholic Enough By Tyler Kingkade Georgetown University, the oldest Jesuit and Catholic college in the United States, no longer deserves to call itself a Catholic institution, a celebrity alumnus claims. William Peter Blatty, a 1950 graduate of Georgetown and author of “The Exorcist,” filed a complaint against the university on May 31 with Donald Wuerl, the archbishop of Washington, D.C. Blatty argues that Georgetown does not comply with Ex Corde Ecclesiae, former Pope John Paul II’s 1991 decree regarding Catholic universities, The Hoya reports. Blatty’s petition claims to represent “more than 1,200 alumni, students, parents, teachers, and other laity from around the world.” Blatty promised in May 2012 he would file a canon lawsuit against Georgetown for allegedly failing to adhere to Catholic principles. Among the grievances cited, the university failed to ensure “that all official actions and commitments [are] authentically Catholic,” to recruit personnel that are willing and able to “promote Catholic identity,” to respect Catholic doctrine and that the university employs a majority of non-Catholics. Blatty’s petition claims there are 22 years of GU scandals that are “defended by Georgetown leaders in a Jesuitical garble.” Those scandals include hosting “the vile play ‘The Vagina Monologues’,” hosting openly gay Georgetown alumnus Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.) on campus and allowing sexual health education on campus. He also complains about Georgetown allowing pro-choice politicians and government officials at campus events. “The Scandals that Georgetown has given to the faithful are too many to count, and too many to ignore any longer,” Blatty said in a statement. Another problem for Blatty: a large coalition of Georgetown faculty protesting against Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) for misuse of Catholic social teaching in defending his budget, which hurts the poor. Rachel Pugh, Georgetown director of communications, defended the university’s religious affiliations to the Georgetowner, a local paper. “All undergraduate students, for example, take two semesters of theology and two semesters of philosophy before graduation,” said Pugh. “Georgetown supports the largest ministry in the country.” Blatty wants the Catholic Church to force changes at the university or strip Georgetown of its Jesuit affiliation.

Father Timothy Kesicki, S.J., president of the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States, released a letter saying that “more than ever, we commit ourselves to living out God’s law, which calls on us to love the stranger, remembering that our ancestors in faith were once strangers in a foreign land.” Taking a moral stand is admirable, but what a contrast to these Jesuit leaders’ weak response to laws mandating insurance coverage for sterilization, contraception, and even abortion in some states! One would wish for these kinds of efforts to prevent the killing of the unborn as well.
Where were they when the Little Sisters of the Poor were being dragged through the courts for defending their freedom of religion? Where was their Catholic conscience when they invited John Podesta, their sometimes visiting Professor and Hillary Clinton's campaign manager, to kick off the question and answer session at the event organised for Cardinal Maradiaga to give a presentation on Amoris Laetitia? You gotta hand it to the Jesuits for their development of the elastic conscience. And more power to Peter Blatty. He got the Vatican to take a closer look at Notre Dame. He might face a harder challenge with Jesuit Georgetown because the Pope has their back.

Have you noticed how leftist apparatchiks in the Church and in politics/culture always move the goal post? They have a very fluid and morphing attitude toward what constitutes evil. As well as how they define good.
I can't help thinking about what Jesus said about finding faith on earth when He returns. While there are over a billion Catholics, there's really only a tiny remnant who believe all that the Church holds to be true, and that appears to be reflected in the upper echelons of the Church. God wouldn't have sent the flood had people believed Noah and He wouldn't have destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah had Lot been able to find a handful of believers. The world's population then was tiny in comparison with today, so how many would be the equivalent of the ten good men required but not found in those days? It's hard not to worry about what could be coming down the line.
May God rest his soul. I must have mixed up Notre Dame with Georgetown because he can't have graduated from both and I remembered reading about his having taken a case to the Vatican against his alma mater and that the Vatican had decided to raise the matter with the Jesuit Order. Pope Francis installed another Jesuit as Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith to replace Cardinal Muller. A Spanish Jesuit, Archbishop Luis Ladaria Ferrer is also President of the Commission set up by Pope Francis to study the question of a Women's Diaconate. (The only place he hasn't put a Jesuit is on top of the Vatican's Christmas tree. Maybe because Fr. Martin was busy Tweeting?) Poor Fr Teilhard, he gets some of the mystical and scientific things shown to him, right!..... but then it seems, his understanding and explanations of the mystical and science takes a dark road and he makes a mishmash of the whole lot! He should have read the writings of Dr Bernard Philberth and his brother Dr Karl Philberth, both professors of science, mathematics and physics who after their studies of science and especially mathematics, concluded that God does use natural means to create and has made the world beautiful and harmonious in its symphony of mathematics. Both these scientists became priests later in life, I think they were in their late 40’s. Father Bernard Philberth and Father Karl Philberth discovered that science points to and reveals much of God’s majesty! For God is both Transcendent and Immanent, the Alpha as well as the Omega! If Fr Teilhard had read their work, than his confused deliberations would not have affected the church and the world to the degree it has. It is a crying shame that he disfigured and trashed science, because good science leads to God! I will pray, God is merciful to his soul!

I have posted this video on another thread, but I think that every Catholic should know what's being taught in "Catholic" universities so I'm posting it here. The lecture was in Yale, but the speaker is a Franciscan sister who was at Jesuit Georgetown but is now lecturing in the Theology Department at Villanova University. Why, in the name of all that's holy, would any Catholic parent pay for their sons or daughters to fall under the influence of these people?
Because parents of means care very little about the actual content of their children's educations except for the degree and name of the school printed on it. Make sure to let go of everything we learned in the Baltimore Catechism! lol wow. So what happens to those who refuse to renounce the truth and refute these geniuses? Tolerance and love? ha!
I listened to Ms Ilia Delio [Is that her name?]for 50 minutes. The contradictions in the monolog of her Teilhard belief system, were too numerous to count and I couldn't listen any longer! I did however, note that they started out their back slapping endorsements of their collective genius, with a small prayer to Teilhard!, thanking him for providing a sunny day and they all seemed super impressed by his act of kindness in this regard! And like Don I noticed we were asked to put aside everything we learned in the Catechism! It seems Teilhard and his cult followers have worked out that the purpose of life is all about a cosmic convergence of all religions and belief systems! where the material world is as important as the cosmic energy world! which is evolving as a collective, into a synthesis of thought of the human mass energy! which when united with the earth, will form in the future a creative spiritual and cosmic Christ! I suppose that could be called a singularity! I had a thought............maybe this "cosmic convergence of all religions and belief systems" would go very well with the beliefs of Katherine Zappone [the Irish witch politician in another thread] who boasts......"The ancient traditions of witchcraft and Goddess worship provide a rich source for theological reflection....Witchcraft is a religion, perhaps the oldest religion extant in the West ...The Old Religion, as we call it, is closer in spirit to Native American traditions or to the shamanism of the Arctic." I believe that Teilhard and his followers are a sad and silly bunch of pagans; worshiping themselves, and sprouting loads of non-scientific garbage! Distressingly if it wasn't so serious this whole Teilhard Shenanigans would be funny.
She's Sr. Ilia Delio of the Franciscan Order. Having just come across some videos of Franciscan Fr. Richard Rohr, it looks like the Jesuits aren't the only order affected by this promotion of the Cosmic Christ/Universalist Religion/everything Catholics thought they knew was wrong. They're like a bunch of geriatric hippies. That Irish Minister is also a product of a "Catholic" education - Boston College and CUA if memory serves me.
