SAINT JOSE MARIE ESCRIVA AND GARABANDAL

On October 6, 2002, Pope John Paul II canonized the founder of Opus Dei in St Peter’s Square, Rome, in the presence of more than 300,000 people from all round the world.

The link between St Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer with the Garabandal apparitions is not well known. In the summer of 1962 he spent a few days of holiday in Suances, Cantabria, during which he visited Garabandal, accompanied by several young men , members of Opus Dei. He spoke cheerfully and profoundly to the girls, an experience they still recall fondly after all these years.
As it happens, news of this visit came out by chance years later when somebody showed the girls a prayer picture for God’s favour through his intercession, printed during his canonization. It was then that the girls joyfully recounted the meeting.
He would not have risked his reputation if he did not believe in the apparitions, and tell others about his trip to talk to the girls. This was also confirmed by Mother Nieves.

  3. I don't know why people are still looking for an astronomical event.
Conchita's words clearly state this will not be a natural phenomenon explained by science.
When she says it will be like two stars colliding, she does not say it will look like two stars colliding. To me it is clear she is just illistrating that it won't hurt us physically but we will see it...Just like two far off stars colliding. What do we see? Our conscience, all the good and bad we have done.

    Read her statement...
"No. To me, it's like two stars… that crash and make a lot of noise and a lot of light but they don't fall… It's something that's not going to hurt us but we're going to see it. In that moment, we're going to see our conscience."

    Q. We have heard that some say the Warning may be a natural phenomenon but
will be used by God to speak to mankind. Is this true?

    A. The Warning is something supernatural and will not be explained by science. It will be seen and felt.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    February, 1977
Question: Would you repeat for us what you know about the Warning?
Answer: … I am not able to say what it consists of but I am able to say what it will be like, more or less. It is a phenomenon which will be seen and felt in all the world and everywhere; I have always given as an example that of two stars that collide. This phenomenon will not cause physical damage, but it will horrify us because at that very moment we will see our souls and the harm we have done. It will be as though we were in agony but we will not die by its effects but perhaps we will die of fright or shock to see ourselves. …

Question: It (the Warning) is not going to hurt you?
Answer: No. To me, it's like two stars… that crash and make a lot of noise and a lot of light but they don't fall… It's something that's not going to hurt us but we're going to see it. In that moment, we're going to see our conscience. You're going to see everything wrong that you're doing.

The new "Garabandal" movie focuses not only on the apparitions, but in the testimony of Juan Alvárez Seco, Brigadier of the Civil Guard. Not only did he become a great witness and believe, but he also publicly said the first Commission of the Bishop was a "farce" with the intention of causing disbelief. Here are some of his notes recorded of the events.

In case anyone is interested and for anyone that speaks spanish, here is an article by Jose Maria Zavala on Garabandal and the new movie. He posted it on his facebook timeline yesterday, which I follow. There is a revealing dialogue between Padre Pio and the french carmelite Joachim Boufflet about Garabandal. If you don't speak Spanish, you should be able to understand most of it using google translate.

By the way, this article is published in major Spanish newspaper, La Razon, so it will give Garabandal apparations a substantial exposure.

    Jarg,

Thank you for posting this. Would you be able to translate one small statement from the text that you posted here please?

I translated the text using Google translate but when Padre Pio is asked, "Then it is true?", about the Apparitions of Our Lady of Garabandal by Joachim Bouflet (a well-known Parisian 65-year-old Carmelite PhD in History at the Sorbonne, who for years has specialized in the study of stigmatized and Marian apparitions), his reply of, ¡Certo e vero!, did not translate to English. Then, I translated this one statement separately but I am not certain of the results.

Can you please translate Padre Pio's answer to the question asked by Joachim Bouflet on August 23, 1968 (just one month prior to Padre Pio's death)?

Joachim Bouflet- Then is it true?

    Padre Pio(stated resoundingly)– ¡Certo e vero!

    John T,

Thank you! My results were also good, "Sure and true!" but you verified my suspicion that Google translate may not have translated this 100% correctly. I am hoping that Jarg will confirm this for us. I am certain though that Padre Pio's response was affirmative.

It is also interesting that the debut of the movie is planned to occur on February 2nd in Spain since this is the Feast Day of Our Lady of Good Success. Another member started a thread announcing a novena for this feast day which I am participating in and one of my prayer intentions is for the great success of this movie!

Here is a link someone just posted on the thread I am speaking of which provides additional information about Our Lady of Good Success and her connection to Spain.

    UPDATE:
I have been using the following site for the novena which contains this story about Our Lady of Good Success and her connection to Madrid, Spain,

It’s Certainly True. And the Resounding “Yes” is 100% True From St Padre Pio. I know first hand of one of affirmative responses directly from Joey Lomangino. He told me (and Workers Of Our Lady Of Mt Carmel Group) that when he went to see Padre Pio at the time in the Early 60’s after Padre Pio gave him his sense of smell back (despite the severed olifactory nerve) after confession, Joey asked him is Mary Appearing at Garabandal And should I/ can I go there? The response was “Yes. Why Not.” (Yes she’s appearing there & why not-Yes go). That was the Confirmation Joey needed.

The other affirmation of St Padre Pios belief and affirmation of Garabandal is Conchita’s bewilderment Of his death and How did he die since he was supposed to see the Miracle but it didn’t happen yet? She was sent a letter (among other artifacts) from Brother Priests at San Giovanni Rotundo who told Conchita Padre Pio saw the Future Great Miracle before he died.

What a loving Mother we have and what a Great Advocate Of Garabandal we have in Heaven in St Padre Pio!! Pray for us Our Lady Of Mt Carmel de Garabandal and St Pio!!

    Conchita’s Polaroid

Conchita was given a Polaroid camera and took a this picture during her ecstasy of the Blessed Mother at the pines in Garabandal. This fact is stated by Mother Maria de las Nieves.

Mother María de las Nieves García was told by Conchita that people wanted a photo of Our Lady, so one day they put a camera in her hands and told her how to operate it because she had no clue. After falling into ecstasy, Conchita started handling the camera as she had been instructed, and Our Lady smiled at her. Conchita told Our Lady that she was holding that thing because people wanted a photo of her, and Our Lady said to her, "I've come out [in the photo]." When the ecstasy ended, the photo was looked at: the result was a light shape of Our Lady on a dark background. Conchita's mother kept and cherished the photo on her bedside table until her death. No date is mentioned.
