    Hello all,
I am praying for many intentions! This novena is particularly powerful I hear.
You can still start the novena today. Some of us started yesterday to end one day before the feast day 2 February, but if you start today you'll finish exactly on the feast day which also aligns with Candlemas.
    God bless you,
    Frank

I just listened to this audio. Very remarkable if you're unfamiliar with the prophesy. Th current slaughter of Innocence is likened to the one which occurred at the birth of Christ. It strikes me boldly that the ugly of our time will end. Pray for the resolution of all our Mother's prophesies.

Thank you for the audio. Great talk!

I have a question regarding the apparition of Our Lady Of Good Success:

This seems to refer to two event: Some Minorite brothers travelled through Spain around the time of Paul V. They got caught in a terrible storm and found the statue of Our Lady of Good Success in a cave.

The other event is Quito of 1611 which we discussed here.

What is the connection between these two events, can anyone give me a hint?

Many thanks to this holy forum.

PS. You can still start the powerful novena with day one. This would beautifully straddle the feast day of 2 February.

    Hello all,

Those of you who are praying this powerful novena - I wonder how you are doing with your other daily prayers?

I must admit I've been neglecting my daily Rosary prayers a bit as I was going through the novena. I haven't prayed many novenas yet in my life, but I suppose it goes without saying that a novena comes in addition of the daily prayers, not as a substitute...

Anyway, today I got back on my horse and prayed my full set of daily prayers in addition to the novena. I will make it a point to include the members of this holy forum in my intentions again.

    God bless,

    Frank

Frank, Thank you for this post. I must admit that I have not been doing well with my other daily prayers but I will work to get back on track.

I think when it comes to praying, the feeling what is a lot can be very different. For about the last two years I have managed to pray one rosary a day. Honestly, before that, I felt a decade as very hard.

Also i haven't prayed many novenas yet, usually i would say a novena should be prayed in addition to other prayers.
I pray the long version of this novena, it does not take more than ten minutes.

Thanks for pointing out that novena. It promises support in the fight against passions and i need that support very much. Not sure if it really will help but i hope so.

Thank you for this encouragement. I missed yesterday with the novena and will be traveling on Thursday. I've been trying to gauge if/when I will be able to make it to Mass before leaving. I might not.
As I am flying, I also need to get my walking in each day and visit my Mom, finish packing. On the other hand, my intention when I return is to see how she handles the Adoration Chapel. I don't know if she will understand it but she loves the photos I have shown her of Christ in the monstrance. At this stage, I don't think her understanding matters. We know and our effort to care for her spirituality at this stage is what does matter. It's all for the glory of God and further preparing her soul. Given the graces received by continuing to receive Christ in the Eucharist, we make sure we take her to Mass weekly and she receives at her Home for Alz.

We are all on a spiritual journey. All efforts are good. But I'm curious as to the long version. I thought I was doing the long version and it takes me 30 minutes. ;) I usually start a rosary on my lunch walk. Granted I typically get about 4 decades in that way.

Ok, thank you. Luckily I recognized that correctly

    Another question:
I read the story about the statue but can not really understand how it was. Can someone explain in simple words what the connection is between the apparitions of Mariana in Quito (there she build a statue) and finding of this or another statue by the brothers in Spain?

Question 5: What is the origin of the invocation?

Answer: In 1607 Pope Paul V gave the name Virgin of Good Success to a statue miraculously found by two Spanish Brothers of the Order of Minims for the Service of the Sick. After the death of Brother Bernandine de Obregón, its founder, Gabriel de Fontaned was elected his successor. Accompanied by Guillermo de Rigosa, the new Superior set off for Rome to plead the case for official approval of their Order before the Roman Pontiff. As they were passing through the town of Traigueras (in Catalonia), they were caught in a storm so severe it made them fear for their lives.

The original statue is in Madrid
In their fear, they prayed to Our Lady for shelter and succor. Seeing a soft light in the distant mountains, they left the path and climbed toward it. They found a cave carved like a polished stone and fragrant with flowers that enshrined a very beautiful statue of Holy Mary carrying her Divine Son in her left arm, a scepter in her right, and a precious crown on her head. The dress was simple but elegant. They fell to their knees to venerate the beautiful statue, and wondered how she came to be in this distant place.

The next day they traveled to the closest hamlets to make inquiries. None of the inhabitants, not even the eldest who knew the history of everyone and everything in the area, had every heard of the cave or the statue. Thus, the Brothers became the owners of the holy statue, offering her their warmest thanks and choosing her as their special patroness. With this amiable and powerful companion, they continued on their journey to Rome.

Arriving there, they told the Sovereign Pontiff what had happened, and Pope Paul V not only acknowledged the supernatural nature of that discovery, but upon confirming the new Order, he placed it under the protection of the same Virgin, whom he gave the name of the Virgin of Good Success.

The statue was placed in the Royal Hospital of Madrid, and soon became famous for the numerous favors granted by Heaven through it. In 1641 King Philip III ordered the construction of the splendid sanctuary in the Puerta del Sol in Madrid. With the passing of time as the devotion spread, the statue was copied and placed in various places, sometimes under a different invocation. Today there are a number of localities in Spain where this image is venerated: Orduña, La Puebla de Gordon, Tudela, Abla, among others.

The invocation was not long in making its way across the ocean to the New World. The Blessed Virgin deigned to favor the Convent of the Immaculate Conception in Quito in a very special way by means of this particular avocation. In an apparition to Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres, the Blessed Virgin appeared and asked that a statue be made of her under the title of Good Success. She should be made just as she appeared to her there, with the Child Jesus in her right arm, and the Abbess’ crozier and the keys of the Convent in her right hand. She should be placed above the Abbess chair in the upper choir because she desired to be Abbess of that Convent until the end of time. And so the Virgin of Good Success of Quito appears with the crosier in her right hand, instead of the scepter that she carries in Madrid.

The Sisters of the Convent of the Immaculate Conception of Quito have always had a great love for their heavenly Abbess. The Statue of the Virgin of Good Success has been loved and venerated by the people of Quito for almost three centuries.
