That Gianfranco_Ravasi fella seems to support the Darwin theory, or something. I thought people who support that nonsense are in effect supporting the belief that we are all an accident of physics, therefore no God is required if their perceptions are taken seriously.

How can the Roman Catholic Church dialogue with a secret society whose sole purpose and aim is the destruction of the Roman Catholic Church. Or am I missing something.

  5. Things involving all nations in the Middle East seems now to be really heating up.

Tension mounts in Lebanon as Saudi Arabia escalates power struggle with Iran

In Beirut’s southern suburbs, where buildings scarred with wars of old blend with posters of the latest dead, talk of another conflict has taken hold. A fight on a scale not seen before may be brewing, say locals like Hussein Khaireddine, a barber who says he and his family in the Shia suburb of Dahiyeh have grown used to tensions over decades.

“This one’s different,” he said. “It could lead to every valley and mountain top. And if it starts, it may not stop.”

    ............

The fall of Kurdish-held Kirkuk in northern Iraq to the Iraqi government, backed by Iran’s most prominent general, in October, starvation among the population of war-torn Yemen, a ballistic missile over Riyadh, and the apparently forced exit of the premier in Lebanon are all part of the same machinations – a great strategic power play between two regional heavyweights that has suddenly shifted from back rooms to potent realisation.

Now, more than at any point in modern history, Iran and Saudi Arabia are squared off against each other as a race to consolidate influence nears a climax from Sana’a to Beirut and the tens of thousands of miles in between.

    .....
The ambitious, unusually powerful, crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, has been given a mandate by his father, King Salman, to take on what the kingdom and its allies in the United Arab Emirates see as an Iranian takeover of essential corners of the Sunni Arab world.

His role on the home front, meanwhile, appears to have few bounds. Cultural reforms, economic rehabilitation, overturning traditional forms of governance, and a corruption purge that has dragged in previously immune royal billionaires, have left Saudi society reeling.

    ......
The foundational split between the two main sects of Islam, over whether followers or descendants should succeed the Prophet Mohammed, has long been a starting point for attempts to explain the contemporary rivalry between Tehran and Riyadh. But the contest has more recently been drawn along modern lines of political power and influence, particularly in the post-Saddam years, which left the centre of the region deeply destabilised. “Saddam was the Sunni bulwark,” said a Lebanese politician who advised the former Iraqi dictator. “That is only now being understood by the Saudis, who are trying to position themselves in his wake, all these years later.”

    ......
Iran now all but controls a land corridor that runs from Tehran to Tartous in Syria, on the Mediterranean coast, giving it access to a seaport a long way to its west, and far from the heavily patrolled waters of the Arabian Gulf. The route passes through the centre of Iraq, and Syria, skirting the Lebanese border and what were some of the most active areas of the Syrian civil war, which have been returned to regime control. “They are two months from finishing this,” said a senior regional intelligence official. “This changes things. It gives them an open supply line to move whatever they want. And it gives them strategic depth. It is a big deal.”

Maybe the Masons are staunch believers in the new dogma of man made climate change.

Incidentally, according to that Grillo guy who's on the officially non-existent Committee set up to invent a new ecumenical Mass, God is not Catholic. With God not being Catholic and transubstantiation not being dogma, maybe a compass and a funny handshake and a recycling bin is all we'll need to receive communion at the new mass. Who was it said that a little bread and wine never harmed anyone?

I have had many conversations with people who call themselves Christian and simply do not believe in hell and that everyone goes to heaven. I can't even follow this train of thought. It has no logic. I always point out this is simply not Biblical and also...... If everyone goes to Heaven, why did Jesus incarnate, suffer and die on the cross? The answer I usually get is "I don't know" but God wouldn't let anyone go to hell. o_O

Its very frustrating and very sad. We need to pray very hard for people.

We do. There is a very hard edge to Christian beliefs. We have lost this understanding. Instead of which we have a God who will lie down for just about anything.

Tanker, I feel the very mistaken belief on the part of many souls these days that there is no hell is the reason God allows nature to rebel against man in the storms and earthquakes as a starting measure to bring people to their senses. And I remember reading somewhere God will continue to permit this escalation and disturbances in nature until He brings us to our knees.

I do also believe the Global warming nonsense should be recognised as mans failure to acknowledge God's power to calm nature and restore the seasons. God will be ready to help once man recognises his need of our Creator. And realises hell starts here on earth if the devil gets his way.

How many people in warn torn areas describe life as being like hell on earth.

Nature in revolt must be a form of hell on earth, and I am sure people caught up in these situations would say, it is at least a purgatory or purification experience.

I would tell anyone who made that stupid claim about there being no hell to look around them. Listen to the news. Look at societies that have lost the Faith. They are degenerating into a hell on earth. It is not safe for children to play freely outside anymore. Homes are not safe without locks everywhere. So much violence, crime and cruelty, because Gods Laws are ignored. Fear is creeping into our minds when we try to understand what is going on around us. And that is on the physical plane. Fear and terror is one of the realities in hell so we are told.

What kind of thinking presumes the chaos ends with death. We reap what we sow. The sad part is, those of us who try to hold on to the tradition of Faith will have to share the outcome brought on us by those who refuse to Obey 'God's Laws and guidelines' for our journey through life.

And didn't St. Pio once say to someone who said they did not believe in hell, "You will when you get THERE." Only nowadays we could say to those people, "You will when hell gets HERE." Because that is what I FEAR we are headed for if God does not intervene.

etoa, Thank you for posting to let us know. The following site has quite a few "aftershocks" reported in the area and they also indicate that the earthquake was felt throughout the region ie. Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Lebanon and Turkey. This link gets updated continually so these reports will only be easily visible through around tomorrow:

Yes, BUT, not at 40km (20 miles) down. To get that far down would require significant advances in technology to the point where Iran could buy almost anything based on the fees she would charge in licensing that technology.

Thank you Mario. You know I saw that post, and was so disturbed by the picture which made Jesus look like a lunatic and whatever He was supposed to be mixing in looked like a human skull with brain matter clinging to the edges. In the skull type bowl there appeared to be a chicken or turkey or goose and a garlic. The knot thing on the chicken, turkey or goose formed what we used to call a popes nose, that being the birds bum. I was that outraged I never read the article. Sorry Blizzard, should have known it would be mind blowing when you picked up on it.

Maybe the obnoxious portrayal was meant to send a signal of repugnance to make people like me avoid reading what it was all about. A clever tactic only the sissy masons could come up with. And to add insult to injury portraying the pope in the soup or caught by the short and curleys as we used to say, or whatever it was meant to portray.

There was another article else where about the apology to the masons, as well as the post you linked.

At least 348 people were killed and over 6,000 injured in Iran in a powerful earthquake that struck the Iran-Iraq border region Sunday, Iran's state-run news agency reports.

Iranian state television reported at least 341 deaths and more than 5,900 people injured. Officials in Iraq said at least 7 people had died there and over 500 had been injured there.

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded that the 7.3-magnitude quake struck around 19 miles from the Iraqi city of Halabjah, at a depth of 14 miles.

According to the USGS, there were two smaller quakes in the area after the 1:18 p.m. ET quake: a 5.3-magnitude quake at 1:29 p.m. ET at a depth of 6 miles, and a 4.5-magnitude quake at 4:33 p.m. ET, also at a depth of 6 miles.

In the city of Ghasr-e Shirin, near the Iraq border, at least six people have died, said governor Faramarz Akbari, according to the state-run IRNA news agency.

In Iraq's Kurdistan region, the health department in the city of Darbandikhan said that three people had died and 40 people had been wounded.

The manager of the Derbandikhan dam told ABC News surface cracks were visible on the dam and that people near the Sirwan River there had been warned to leave as a precaution.

At least 100 people have been injured across Iraqi Kurdistan.

I think that the last time that an earthquake of this magnitude, 7.x, occurred in the Middle East was in 2013. On April 9, 2013, an earthquake of 6.3 magnitude struck in Iran killing 40 people and a few days later on April 16, 2013, an earthquake of 7.7 magnitude struck in Iran killing 35 people. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_earthquakes_in_2013 .

This earthquake has surpassed the number of deaths caused by the earthquake in Mexico this year, moving into the number one spot for the 2017,
