    Setting: Adoration Chapel
Victim: 20+ yr old Filipina who came from a rural area. During the entire possession state, she spoke in straight English with no local accent whatsoever, as if a native speaker of that language, sometimes she spoke in clear Spanish.

Exorcist: (kneeling before the exposed Blessed Sacrament) O Sacrament Most Holy, O Sacrament Divine, all praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine.
Demoniac: (with a mocking laughter) Why are you worshipping that “pan”? Worship me instead. I am immortal and powerful. He just gave you bread, nothing more. (Followed by a growl)
Exorcist: (commanding the demon to worship God) Kneel before His holy presence in the Eucharist, unclean spirit! Kneel and worship Him, your Creator and God!
    Demoniac: Neverrrrrrrr!
Exorcist: (instructing all those assisting him to kneel before the Blessed Sacrament with heads bowed) O Sacrament Most Holy, O Sacrament Divine, all praise and all thanksgiving…
Demoniac: (shouting with fury) Do not worship Him! Worship me! He gives you nothing! I can give you everything! I own the world! I own everything in it! I can give it to you!
Exorcist: Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory…
Demoniac: (Hissing and cursing) We were there, glorious and immortal. He threw us out of His presence. We did not accept His plan for you.
Exorcist: (praying the Litany of the Saints) Lord, have mercy on us…Christ, have mercy on us…Lord, have mercy on us.
Demoniac: (with a snarled voice and mocking) There is no mercy for you. You are just like us. Rebellious, disobedient, sinnnnerrrrrs!
Exorcist: Holy Mary, pray for us.
Demoniac: (face tightening) No! Stop it! Do not call that woman!
    Exorcist: St. Michael…St. Gabriel…St. Raphael…
Demoniac: (a change in the pronoun used by the demoniac from first person plural to singular) I was more glorious than them. Aaaaahhhhh (in a very furious tone). Call on me and I will answer you!
Exorcist: (calling on each of the saints in the litany) St. Joseph…St. Augustine… St. Dominic…
Demoniac: (answering the litany with rage) Sinners! Sinners! Sinners all of them!
Exorcist: From all evil, deliver us O Lord… From all sin…
Demoniac: (jeering) You ask God to deliver you from evil and sin? You love sin. That is why we are here with you. Your sin will all destroy you. In a few years the whole world will be ours because of you. Darkness will cover you all. (laughing with scorn) Do you not see it and experience it? It is already here.
Exorcist: That you govern and preserve your holy Church, we beg you to hear us.
    Demoniac: I will destroy her!
Exorcist: That you humble the enemies of holy Church…
Demoniac: You are her enemies. These priests and religious that serve her. (then started to laugh with scorn) they are all unfaithful. They invited us even in their own houses with the things they do and practice. We will destroy them all from the inside. (then looking with raging eyes on one religious sister who was assisting) Yes, sister, your congregation has nothing of the holiness of your father (mentioning the name of a great saint where the congregation takes its inspiration). We will destroy you soon. We are already inside.
Exorcist: That you lift up our minds to heavenly desires, we beg you to hear us.
Demoniac: You all desire sin more than heaven. You do more evil things. (sneering laughter)
Exorcist: (started praying in latin using the Ritual) Praecipio tibi, quicumque es, spiritus immunde, et omnibus sociis tuis hanc dei famulan obsidentibus: ut per mysteria incarnationis, passionis, resurrectionis et ascensionis Domini nostri Jesu Christi, per missionem Spiritus Sancti, et per adventum ejusdem Domini nostri at judicium, dicas clare mihi nomen tuum, dicas clare mihi nomen tuum, dicas clare mihi nomen tuum, dicas clare mihi nomen tuum, dicas clare mihi nomen tuum…
Demoniac: Satanas! Padre, I know your sins…I will accuse you all at the hour of your death.
Exorcist: (repeating the command) Dicas clare mihi nomen tuum…
Demoniac: Lucifer! You think you worship God, Padre? Humanity worships me everytime. They worship me in their movies, their music, and their dances. (then in a whisper) I am there whenever they only please themselves. (scorning laughter). You are wasting your time, Padre. She is ours, the world is ours. Humanity has rejected God.
Exorcist: Prorsus in omnibus obedias! Prorsus in omnibus obedias! Prorsus in omnibus obedias!
Demoniac: (growling voice) How dare you command us? You are just a man. We are immortal! You are just a priest. We are more powerful!
    Exorcist: Prorsus in omnibus obedias!
Demoniac: We will not subject ourselves to you! Aaaahhh (as if in terrible agony)
    Exorcist: Our Father…
Demoniac: He is no father to you. You do not listen to Him…. Stop that praying!
Assisting Sister: (started singing all joined her) Hail Mary, full of grace…
Demoniac: Stop that! Stop that! Stop that! She is just a woman! Damn you!
Assisting Sister and everyone: …pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death…
Demoniac: (growling) That woman never stops praying for you!
Exorcist: (instructing the sister and the others to sing the Salve Regina in latin)
Demoniac: Your queen is no queen to us! But He made her truly the queen! Damn her! Damn her! She destroyed everything!
Exorcist: (called everyone to recite the Nicene Creed) I believe in God the Father Almighty, …I believe in Jesus Christ …for us men and for our salvation, He came down from heaven…
Demoniac: (hissing and shouting expletives) There is no salvation for you!
Exorcist: (repeating that line over and over again) For us men and for our salvation, He came down from heaven…
Demoniac: (in exasperation) Nooooooooooo! Why should he become man? Why not become like us? He chose you over us! He chose you over us!
Exorcist: For us men and for our salvation, He came down from heaven. And by the power of the Holy Spirit, He became incarnate of the Virgin Mary and became man.
Demoniac: (infuriated) He chose her! He chose her to be His mother! Had we known it will be her, we would have killed her in the womb!
Exorcist: He will come again in glory to judge the living and dead and His kingdom will have no end…
Demoniac: (terrified) We suffer, we suffer terribly and fear the day of judgment to come.
Exorcist: Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and the whole world. (repeating 10x)
Demoniac: He should not be merciful to you. Yet, He has shown you mercy. You are all sinners and we will not stop until we bring you to damnation. We will bring many with us to hell!
Exorcist: Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell. Bring all souls to heaven, especially those who need most Thy mercy.
    Demoniac: (surrendering but defiant) Noooooo!

I read this yesterday and thought what an incredible affirmation of the power of the Truth and the powerlessness of the Evil one in the light of God. And that serpent knows it, along with all his fallen comrades.

That's just about the scariest thing I've ever read! I will be quoting St. Teresa of Calcutta a whole lot more now, probably every day: "Mary, Mother of Jesus, please be a mother to me now." At the mere sound of Her name, the evil one flees!

I have no doubt it was the devil, it has so much substance and knowledge, I don't think this young girl could ever have made this up herself.

I was thinking of things we could learn from this.

One thing strikes me is the utter and complete despair of the demons. They are complete loosers, with utterly no hope. Eternally damned and in the most complete and utter despair. Their only hope, if you could call it hope is to drag others to hell to join them. But what hope is this? The more souls they drag into hell the deeper into hell they themselves go. So they make their own situation worse. No matter how bad things get for anyone here on Earth it is never as bad as it is for them. They have just no hope at all whatsoever. Why they may bluster and threaten but they know the exorcist is going to throw them out in the waste lands again. What pain for their pride! How awful to be a demon!!

If it is authentic it must be from one of the bottom feeder demons as some of the responses are inane. Remember we are talking about beings here infinitely beyond man's own natural intellectual powers.

Some of it to me just appeared silly.

The devils are curious, so different from us, pure Spirits, Fallen Angels.

Jesus talks about it as a Kingdom, not divided against itself. So it has its own hierarchy or structure very similar to the angels. They also act often as a very large group , 'Legion', in Scripture. So I think the demons talked to are often interchangeable we could be talking to one one minute and another another minute. IN addition they could be going up and down the hierarchy of power one second to second. As well as this some of the demons are very, very low down the Totem Pole indeed.

Another thing is I don't think they use intellect or logic as we do. They view these things as simply instruments. To use loose as they wish.

Further to do some voices, it seems to me are not those of actual devils but souls lost in hell, demons if you like of those who previously lived on Earth, such as King Herod or Judas.

It is very confusing , but I think we should expect this, we are not dealing with the guy next door.

Also of course since the devil is a shocking liar, this poses a problem too.

But still when exorcists talk of what they learn I find it so interesting. For instance in the case of referring to Our Lady exorcists say demons are severely restricted on what they an say. They are not allowed to say foul things about her, God does not permit these kind of insults. Also it is very clear they are in total terror and awe of her. Big time.

One thing I think is very revealing about Devils is that they don't rely on Faith; they KNOW God exists.

if the devil is the father of lie can he lie during the exorcism?

The Exorcist is supposed to limit himself to two key questions. The name of the demon (to pull him out) and the circumstances that permitted him to get in (for obvious reasons). Anymore questions than this are like a vehicle going of the road into a huge bog of lies and half lies. But the Ritual given by the Church appears to ensure veracity on these two key points. He (they ) are forced by the Rite to be hones there. But only here.

Sadly some ,even experienced exorcists wander far and wide in places they should not be a wandering. They should restrict themselves to these two questions; sometimes, very sadly they do not. Big mistake.

I studied demonology for a time and was giving serious consideration to doing my doctorate on the topic in light of the surge of fascination with the paranormal and of the new age movement in general. After prayer and discernment I shelved the whole idea as there were serious questions over my interest in the subject and I did not consider myself sufficiently prepared spiritually to engage the matter.

We can cause ourselves serious grief and spiritual danger by indulging our curiosity in such things. The little knowledge I have on these matters is enough.

It is a very serious, dangerous, and dirty business and not recommended for those who want to satisfy idle curiosity.

The mistake I think some priests make I think is when they forget that it is the Church , God who is driving the devil out rather than the priest himself. Here humility is key.

It is true that there are two big mistakes as far as the devil is concerned, one in not to believe in him at all, secondly in maybe believing in him a little too much. :) But I think there is an honest via media, a middle way of honest search for knowledge which does no harm and only good.

The best talk I ever heard on the subject was from Archbishop Fulton Sheen..and Fr Ripperger is also excellent if anyone is interested.

This is an area of the Spiritual life which is mocked and ignored or rationalized away as superstition or even better a lack of accepting personal responsibility on the behalf of those who are affected by such things. In truth though, it is a result of a darkening of the mind and heart due to not honoring God and giving thanks to Him. The last excuse is my personal favorite because it fits right in line with the lie today that Evil and the evil one and his cohorts do not exist. It puts us right where these vile creatures want us. Unprotected and eventually blaming ourselves for all the wrong reasons, further entrenching many people into sin for their hopelessness and lack of understanding. Many times for things so far outside our control it is somewhat ludicrous.

Therefore it must be our own decisions which are to blame or we can blame forces outside ourselves but ones which are likely worldly candidates like our leaders and government institutions or our jobs and while this of course has a baring on our lives and could very well foster a situation which creates in us an invitation for evil forces to enter forcefully into areas of it. Many have and will suffer very greatly before and if they ever come to the understanding that they are subject to forces which have been placed in their lives by others or inherited or invited themselves via their ignorance or lack of proper understanding. Gods wrath comes into play when one considers what Paul said about such things for are they not a spirit which comes over us?

Consider that all these things are the result of God's wrath against mankind. Constantly professing our own wisdom...

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. 25 For they exchanged the truth of God for p]">[p]a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is r]">[r]unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing s]">[s]indecent acts and receiving in t]">[t]their own persons the due penalty of their error.

28 And just as they did not see fit u]">[u]to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30 slanderers, v]">[v]haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

I think one of the main reasons why people do not believe in the devil is that Satan as General of the Armies of Hell as a main strategy in these Latter Days has together with his forces chosen to pretend he and they simply do not exist and like some Lion hiding behind a bush does not reveal himself until he springs forth to drag his prey away to Hades with him.

There are two exceptions to this.

On the Dark Side he reveals himself to his disciples who chose to practice Magic and the Dark Arts (and sometimes their victims)

..and on the Side of Light to those who sufficiently walk out into the Desert of Prayer.

I will leave aside the Dark Side for the moment. Just to say the reason why he reveals himself to these poor fools is that it is the better strategy to reveal himself in some false form to drive them onwards to the pit.

But on the Side of Light when Faith grows in prayer it is useless to hide anymore for Faith has taught the soul of existence so well that hiding is useless. I can only say that seeing him through Faith and meeting him face to face in the Battle are tow very different things. But when he is met face to face in the combat it is never ever forgotten; his existence engraves itself on the heart for all time and is never ever forgotten.

It is because of this I refer to his existence so many times on the forum to warn people. He really really does exist, I have come face to face with him many, many times in prayer. Such is the Teaching of the Church. Such is the repeated report of Scripture. Such is the Testimony of the Fathers and the Saints. He may choose to hide; but believe me , he is there. He is always, always there.

I think another reason why people do not believe in the Devil is that they no longer believe in the existence of true evil. We live in a very ordered, prosperous Western Society were there are many, many laws and rules governing our behaviour. In a sense evil is kept at some kind of bay. So most of us in our ordinary everyday life deceive ourselves that everyone around us , including our good people. We can no longer see the difference between people who are forced to obey the law and man made rules and those who are innately good or evil.

To put it another way we would not know an evil person if he came up to us and spat in our faces.

It was not always so. For instance in the American , 'Wild West' I think were there was often little or no law, good and evil was no longer shaded and the evil could come forth as they were with no deceit.

It is the same in times of war. One of the reasons I think soldiers come home so damaged is that they come face to face with pure evil for the very first time in their lives and it is a total shock to the system.
