'Love your shepherds and pray for them'. I must remember to do this but I keep forgetting. It is a great consolation that we do this in the course of every mass. This message makes me uncomfortable because it is very Apostolic in tone. I am always nervous because I do so little for others. I must do more.

The Forum has been abuzz for two years about the confusion in the Church regarding doctrine that has been taught for two millennium. In my opinion, one of the key purposes of doctrine and truth is to preserve the channels of grace which empower us to live the love that Our Lady asks of us in the above message. How can we truly love apart from the grace of God? This fall I'm committed to 20 hours of chaplaincy in a local hospital. This last week I sat with two estranged parents with their nearby daughter in the hospital bed, dying. She attempted suicide by driving her car directly into the path of an oncoming truck. Though she somehow survived the impact, this 18-yr-old died yesterday. There are real life situations that each of us meet in the course of our day. I am blessed to return home to a faithful wife of 34 years. I have available Confession, Holy Mass, and the fruit of that marvelous miracle, Holy Communion. But to be in that moment of pain was so difficult. I would love to say what a splendid job I did, but I can't. But what I can say is that thanks to God's grace the love of Christ was present and God alone knows what was accomplished. When all is said and done, let us defend the Faith not only for Truth's sake alone, but let us do so for the grace thus made available. May each of us obey Our Lady's advice that we may be an example of love and may help all those who have not come to know her Son. Safe in the Refuge of the Immaculate Heart!
I so envy you, Terry working directly with souls in need in this way, may God Bless you for it. As our Lady says it is so needed in this dark world. I love it too that Our Lady is reminding us that we are all called to be Apostles. Although that being said as lay people , well myself at least do not come into direct contact with them very often. I can only hope I do some good by simply being myself. But yes I so appreciate people like yourself who are in the front of the battle line, so to speak
