    Brian,

Thank you for posting this. If this is all true and President Trump is aware of this information, which is probably the case, it may be the final push for him to throw out the Iran Nuclear Deal completely. The President keeps reaffirming how we enabled the nuclear situation with the DPRK to happen and he has stated that he wants to prevent this situation from occurring with Iran. Here is what the President tweeted this morning, "Our country has been unsuccessfully dealing with North Korea for 25 years, giving billions of dollars & getting nothing. Policy didn't work!" I am assuming that the President's "calm before the storm" comment relates to Iran and not military action in regards to North Korea but who knows. Thank you again.

Expert analysis of North Korea's nuclear propaganda paints a grim picture for the US

    Oct. 6, 2017, 7:36 AM
A group of civilian "decoders" in California are doggedly analysing North Korean propaganda to shed light on its nuclear ambitions — and it does not make easy reading for the US.

In a video for The Wall Street Journal, researchers at Middlebury Institute's Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) said Pyongyang's missile arsenal is more sophisticated than people might think.

"Everybody thinks they're a joke, like they're some kind of incompetent buffoons,"
Jeffrey Lewis, the programme director, said in Thursday's video. "We were living in this parallel universe where we kept going, 'but they're not buffoons.'"

North Korea shocked the world when it
successfully tested its first intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on July 4 this year, which experts said had the capability to reach Alaska.

CNS researchers, however, said they "weren't surprised." Propaganda footage of another missile that was introduced this May,
the Hwasong-12, had already indicated that North Korea had all the parts needed to build an ICBM, Lewis said.

"When we looked at the 12, we were like, 'Holy crap, that is a pathway to an ICBM,'" he told the Journal.

    Here's the WSJ video: http://www.wsj.com/video/north-kore...eam/68A62B40-08CF-4DD4-B366-91781FE17247.html

Lewis and his team also deduced, from other propaganda footage, that Pyongyang had the capability to successfully launch a nuclear strike on US cities like New York or Los Angeles.

One recent video showed a missile aircraft with a light airframe, which would be able to carry a heavy nuclear warhead all the way to the US continent.

    Earlier this year,
Pyongyang vowed to strike "the heart of the US" if American officials attacked the country's leader, Kim Jong Un.

Lewis said he hopes his work will provide more clarity into North Korea's nuclear ambitions and the US's foreign policy options, referencing the lack of factual information in public debate surrounding the Iraq war in 2003.

Then-President George W. Bush and then-British Prime Minister Tony Blair sent
hundreds of thousands of troops into Iraq, alleging that Saddam Hussein's regime had stockpiled weapons of mass destruction. Intelligence officials have since said that Hussein had no such arsenal.

According to Lewis, the US government is wrong to insist on forcing North Korea to denuclearise. He believes the US's best shot at containing the North Korea is to make it limit its nuclear programme, rather than eliminate its weapons altogether.

US intelligence agencies also said "
no amount of pressure"could stop North Korea from developing nuclear weapons, the Senate heard last month. He added that even if the US assassinates Kim, the supreme leader's followers could still attack the US.

Some of Pyongyang's missiles are already armed with nuclear weapons, and the country has been practising missile launches over South Korea and Japan, Lewis said.
Both those countries have warned of more activity from the North in mid-October.

Russia, China call for restraint after Trump comment on North Korea
    October 9, 2017
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia and China called for restraint on North Korea on Monday after U.S. President Donald Trump warned over the weekend that “only one thing will work” in dealing with Pyongyang, hinting that military action was on his mind.

When asked what Russia made of Trump’s comments, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a conference call with reporters:

“Moscow has called and continues to call on the parties involved in the conflict and on those who have anything to do with this issue to exercise restraint and to avoid any steps that would only worsen the situation.”

Commenting on a Trump statement that the United States might withdraw from a nuclear deal with Iran, Peskov said such a move would have “negative consequences.”

Speaking in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying reiterated a call for all parties involved with the standoff in North Korea to exercise restraint, describing the situation as extremely complex and serious.

China hopes all sides do nothing to irritate each other or worsen the problem and speak and act cautiously, she told a daily news briefing.

In recent weeks, North Korea has launched two missiles over Japan and conducted its sixth nuclear test, all in defiance of U.N. Security Council resolutions, and may be fast advancing toward its goal of developing a nuclear-tipped missile capable of hitting the U.S. mainland.

Trump repeatedly has made clear his distaste for dialogue with North Korea. Last week, he dismissed the idea of talks as a waste of time, a day after Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Washington was maintaining open lines of communication with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s government.

“Our country has been unsuccessfully dealing with North Korea for 25 years, giving billions of dollars & getting nothing. Policy didn’t work!” the U.S. president said in a Twitter post on Monday.

Trump’s comments seemed to further suggest that military action was on his mind.

On Saturday, Trump made a similar comment on Twitter about how negotiations have failed for 25 years and said “only one thing will work” with North Korea.

You could be right, NK may perform another test and something could go wrong. They don't fully understand the consequences of their actions or they don't really care.

Maybe I'm way off the mark but I get the impression that Trump's diplomacy doesn't work stance is about ratcheting up the pressure on China. Maybe he's hoping for China to do a little regime changing in N. Korea. The Chinese could afford to be complacent when the US approach was predictable. Now they can't be sure what will be the next move by either the N. Koreans or the US. It isn't in China's interests to have a war on their border.

  11. North Korea 'hackers steal US-South Korea war plans'

Hackers from North Korea are reported to have stolen a large cache of military documents from South Korea, including a plan to assassinate North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un.

Rhee Cheol-hee, a South Korean lawmaker, said the information was from his country's defence ministry.

The compromised documents include wartime contingency plans drawn up by the US and South Korea.

They also include reports to the allies' senior commanders.

The South Korean defence ministry has so far refused to comment about the allegation.

Plans for the South's special forces were reportedly accessed, along with information on significant power plants and military facilities in the South.

Mr Rhee belongs to South Korea's ruling party, and sits on its parliament's defence committee. He said some 235 gigabytes of military documents had been stolen from the Defence Integrated Data Centre, and that 80% of them have yet to be identified.

The hack took place in September last year. In May, South Korea said a large amount of data had been stolen and that North Korea may have instigated the cyber attack - but gave no details of what was taken.

Continued from the BBC's article posted above dated October 10, 2017...

    North Korea denied the claim.
South Korea's Yonhap news agency reports that Seoul has been subject to a barrage of cyber attacks by its communist neighbour in recent years, with many targeting government websites and facilities.

The isolated state is believed to have specially-trained hackers based overseas, including in China.

North Korea has accused South Korea of "fabricating" the claims.

News that Pyongyang is likely to have accessed the Seoul-Washington plans for all-out war in the Koreas will do nothing to soothe tensions between the US and North Korea.

The two nations have been at verbal loggerheads over the North's nuclear activities, with the US pressing for a halt to missile tests and Pyongyang vowing to continue them.

The North recently claimed to have successfully tested a miniaturised hydrogen bomb, which could be loaded onto a long-range missile.

In a speech at the UN in September, US President Donald Trump threatened to destroy North Korea if it menaced the US or its allies, and said its leader "is on a suicide mission".
Mr Kim responded with a rare statement, vowing to "tame the mentally deranged US dotard with fire".

Mr Trump's latest comment took the form of a cryptic tweet at the weekend, where he warned that "only one thing will work" in dealing with North Korea, after years of talks had proved fruitless. He did not elaborate further.

North Korea says Trump has 'lit the wick of war:' Russia's TASS agency
MOSCOW (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump has “lit the wick of war” with North Korea and his country will be made to pay with “a hail of fire”, a Russian news agency quoted North Korea’s foreign minister as saying on Wednesday.

Tensions between North Korea and the United States have risen in recent weeks over Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons and missile programs.

North Korea has test-fired several missiles and conducted what it said was a test explosion of a hydrogen bomb as it advances toward its goal of developing a nuclear-tipped missile capable of hitting the U.S. mainland.

Speaking to Russia’s state-run TASS news agency, North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho said his country’s nuclear program guaranteed peace and safety in the region and would not be a matter of discussion.

“With his bellicose and insane statement at the United Nations, Trump, you can say, has lit the wick of a war against us,” TASS quoted Ri as saying. “We need to settle the final score, only with a hail of fire, not words.”

Ri has previously called Trump “President Evil” and his comments are likely to fuel an escalating war of words between the U.S. President and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

“We have almost reached the last point on the journey toward our final goal - to achieve a real balance of power with the United States,” he said.

“Our principal position is that we will never agree to any talks in which our nuclear weapons will be the subject of negotiations.”

Small quake registered in area of North Korea where previous nuclear tests occurred
    Doug Stanglin, USA TODAY Published 2:20 p.m. ET Oct. 12, 2017 | Updated 2:43 p.m. ET Oct. 12, 2017

A small earthquake has been detected in an area of North Korea were previous nuclear tests have been carried out, the U.S.Geological Survey reported Thursday.

The USGS said the magnitude 2.9 quake occurred about 13 miles northeast of Sungjibaegam, North Korea, "in the area of the previous North Korean Nuclear tests.."

"The event has earthquake like characteristics, however, we cannot conclusively confirm at this time the nature (natural or human-made) of the event," the USGS notes. "The depth is poorly constrained and has been held to 5 km (3 miles) by the seismologist."

The USGS added that the Air Force Technical Applications Center is the only organization in the federal government whose mission is to detect and report technical data from foreign nuclear explosions.

The detection of a quake does not always indicate a nuclear test. On Sept. 23, a magnitude 3.4 quake was registered under Mt. Mantap, an area of North Korea where earthquakes do not normally occur.

A joint report published by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and UC Santa Cruz concluded that tunnels in the test site collapsed, the Los Angeles Times reported.

North Korea has carried out six nuclear tests since October, 2006.

  16. 2nd of at least two such messages to Luz de Maria this year about North Korea: (this could allude to the fear of that mountain where the nuclear testing is taking place collapsing and causing the massive fallout to occur within that country itself):

Pray My children, pray for North Korea, its people will suffer the effect of its own nuclear creations.

    etoa,

I was thinking exactly something like what you posted, that if NK keeps up with all of this crazy testing resulting in earthquakes and who know what else - they are truly playing with fire. This of course assumes that they have been performing more testing.

PS- Maybe I read this in one those articles that you posted in the following post, hmmm.

North Korea's nuclear test site at risk of imploding, Chinese scientist says
    • The single mountain under which North Korea most likely conducted its five most recent nuclear bomb tests could be at risk of collapsing, a Chinese scientist said.
    • The team from the seismic and deep earth physics laboratory made the claim in a statement posted on their website on Monday.
    • Its leader, geophysicist Wen Lianxing, said that based on data collected by more than 100 earthquake monitoring centers in China.
    .........
Another test might cause the whole mountain to cave in on itself, leaving only a hole from which radiation could escape and drift across the region, including China, he said.

"We call it 'taking the roof off'. If the mountain collapses and the hole is exposed, it will let out many bad things."

Sunday's blast was followed by an earthquake eight minutes later, which China's seismic authorities interpreted as a cave-in triggered by the explosion.

Congress warned North Korean EMP attack would kill '90% of all Americans'

Congress was warned Thursday that North Korea is capable of attacking the U.S. today with a nuclear EMP bomb that could indefinitely shut down the electric power grid and kill 90 percent of "all Americans" within a year.At a House hearing, experts said that North Korea could easily employ the "doomsday scenario" to turn parts of the U.S. to ashes.
In calling on the Pentagon and President Trump to move quickly to protect the grid, the experts testified that an explosion of a high-altitude nuclear bomb delivered by a missile or satellite "could be to shut down the U.S. electric power grid for an indefinite period, leading to the death within a year of up to 90 percent of all Americans."

  20. Mysterious absence of North Korea's 'rocket men' raises new nuke, missile fears

Two key officials involved in North Korea’s nuclear and missile program were reportedly nowhere to be seen during public events this week, fueling speculation that another missile launch or nuke test could be imminent.

Ri Man-gon, supervisor of the department for the nuclear and missile development, and Kim Rak-gyom, the head of the strategic rocket forces, were noticeably missing at a Saturday mass rally in Pyongyang and a Tuesday celebration for the anniversary of the Worker’s Party of Korea, according to South Korean newspaper Chosun Ilbo.
