Sin and dislocation

Here are a few thoughts that came whilst praying the Rosary today especially the Annunciation and Coronation of our Lady since she was so conformed to the Divine Will she is perfect in every way.

Sin is not only an absence of the good, a deprivation but is also a dislocation that is something that is out of synchronicity with the will of God.

In the same way when we dislocate a finger, a knee, shoulder or whatever it causes pain and injury to the body the same way that sin causes injury to the soul.

Obviously, the greater the sin the greater the dislocation. When the part of the body is dislocated we go to the doctor who often has to manipulate the joint into the right position the natural position and this is very painful. Despite the relocation of the joint there is often a weakness left to that particular area that it might flare up again.

As Catholics we can turn to the Divine Physician who has provided us with the sacrament of reconciliation to confess our sins and we receive the healing grace and balm of Divine Love. We are made right with God but still the wounds of sin leave a weakness that leave us prone to fall again. We can strengthen the soul spiritually by prayer, fasting and living in the Divine Will. Saints are those made whole by the Divine Physician and in alignment with the Divine Will.

There are some poor souls who chose to live willfully lives of sin and selfishness. The dislocation is so great they are plunged into great spiritual distress and darkness where the will, the intellect and the memory are so consumed by the enslavement to the sin that they are disfigured and barely recognizable in their humanity (to God). Those who willfully persist to the end in living a life of persistent dislocation from the Divine Physician are lost forever because they prefer their own will to the will of God. No one is lost however, who does not want to be lost. God so loves these souls that a mere glance towards the Divine Physician is suffice to draw down the mercy of God and they are saved through grace yet the injury of sin and dislocation remain. They are rendered perfect only by passing through the furnace of Divine love and this purification is so intensely painful to the soul that we call it purgatory.

The degree of our suffering in purgatory is measured by how much out of alignment we are to the Divine Will and the purification required to make us holy in order to live in the presence of God in heaven.

    Ave Maria

You are very blessed to contemplate such things in prayer garabandal. Thank you for sharing it with us. :)

When I consider sin and the dislocation they cause the remedy is clear. Prayer, meditation, and God's Grace. His Grace first of all to give us the desire to draw close to Him and to desire to pray and please Him. Without this desire our prayers when we even manage them seem meaningless and without focus. Centered around wandering the wasteland of our selfish desires rather than focusing on Him.

Self knowledge about these things will get us nowhere. We are simply not capable of manufacturing this desire in ourselves. It is not until we earnestly desire to do His will that we are capable of overcoming the flesh and then not in any way because of ourselves but only through Him.

Please Lord give each and every one of us this desire to draw near to you. Instill it in our hearts through your Mercy and Grace.

Wow. Thank you for sharing this. It may be the best explanation for Purgatory I have ever heard. Truly inspired.
