Malachi gets it right....a tad off on his timetable, otherwise he is spot on....sadly.
This was recorded for our time folks....

I could listen to him all day.

A coincidence--I was listening last night. I think it may have been this interview or the Tempter's Hour. So much meaningful information that seems more germane to our time than to the time of the interview.

    Yes AED,

It is amazing how this reflects what our church is entrenched in right now. I was listening last night too, but only finished it today. Gosh, I wish he was still alive! I'd love to hear his thoughts on the Vatican now.....but then again, I think it's all on this video!

I would love to hear what Fr. Martin would say now too. I imagine he would be ringing the alarm bells.

One thing I always remember him saying is that the members of the Church are being led into a form of belief that is not Catholic (That is not an exact quote, but close).

To be honest this has been happening slowly for so long and over so many years that I wonder if I even know what it truly is to be Catholic. I was born after Vatican II. I have had to learn the faith from books and articles. That is not the same thing as being immersed in it culturally.

I vaguely remember the Latin Mass. I remember when we started the new mass...I was young, but it didn't feel the same. They remodeled the church and it lost its "look" of reverence. When we quit kneeling for communion it seem odd....no more patant to catch a fallen host. Just one change after another. Everything and everyone took the mass to be a less reverent, more casual event. Women quit wearing their hats, white gloves and dresses. Men quit wearing their dress shirts, ties and suits. Priest vestments were not as elaborate. No more Gregorian chant sung by the choir....replaced by hippies playing guitars at folk masses......all of these changes and we wonder why no one believes in the real presence? Who would? The church quit demanding respect before the Blessed a Sacrament by every change they made and everything they allowed. The nuns who taught us showed up one year to teach and they all lost their full habit. And the same nuns who would have shown you the door if you had ever thought about showing up for mass without a hat or modest dress were now part of the new, liberal catholic culture!

Wow, hey you at the Vatican, how's that working out for us ? Are we holier now...or happier now? No, we are neither. And you say you think you are going to mess with the church some more....maybe a new and better mass?
You know what you are going to do Rome? You are going to fix us right out of existence. Thank, but no thanks! We kept our mouths shut after VII. If we stay silent this time, there won't be anything left to fight for. If you though Vatican II was a bad idea, can you even imagine how bad VIII would be? Thank goodness some of us still remember what a rosary is for....it is for praying for our Holy Mother church to survive in spite of the gates of hell trying to prevail against her. Hey Satan...She will crush your ugly head....the rosary...it is the weapon.

    God wins:)

What a wonderfully written post, Beth B! My thoughts, exactly. About ten years ago, I started to wear a veil to Mass, confession, adoration, anytime I was in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. At that time, I was teaching third grade in a Catholic school and many of my little girls began, with their parents' permission, to wear veils in church, as well. I hope they still do! Now my daughters ( 3 1/2 and 5) wear a veil to Mass, too. There will come a day, I think, when all the old ways will be beautifully restored. :)

It is true. I can't think of any changes that have been made that have led to anything good. :(

I have great hopes though that the SSPX rejoining the Church will be a shot in the arm for her. The deal is all but signed. They have even purchased a large building in Rome presumably as a headquarters. They have a worldwide organization and are the most traditional group out there. Sadly they have no chapels near where I am :( I may have to move to rectify that.

The stage is set for the final act and all of the actors are taking their place.

Praetorian, I totally agree with Fr. Martin that Catholics are being led astray, lead into a form of worship and belief that is not Catholic.
And in order for this apostasy (let's call it what it is) to take place, it had to have been very gradual. You are correct that learning Catholicism from books and articles is not the same as being immersed in it culturally, but what a great blessing God has given you, the gift of the true Faith.
I really mourn the "passing" of my beloved Catholic Church. I know, all is not totally lost, but the situation is dire, as Padraig says often. Well,
right now we still have the Mass and the Rosary and Sacraments and devotions, and we can make good use of our time to take full advantage of them.
Heaven is our true home. God sees what we are going through and He will help us and give us graces to get through this storm. He can do anything, and He can restore unto us the joy of our salvation (that is from a psalm, don't know which one) I believe God will restore unto us what the devil has taken away, whether in this life or the next. Today I had another intuitive feeling that the situation in the Church is getting darker. Small groups for Lent are being formed in my parish and two or three discussion groups center around Bishop Barron.
In my mind, I wonder why we can't have the Lenten devotions like Stations of the Cross? Our pastor is having a Friday Mass at 6 pm followed by a meatless supper and you can take yourself on the Stations of the Cross. What is that supposed to mean? Can't we get a priest to take on the Stations of the Cross? In Lent?
    Rant rant
    but seriously

Oh so funny that you posted this....about the veils. At daily mass there is just one woman who wears her veil. I caught notice of her and though, wow, good for you! So many of us have talked about doing the same, but for fear of ridicule or maybe scorn by a priest, we coward and haven't done it. One also fears that they'd be accused of trying to call attention to themselves...id hate that. But, it's still the right thing to do. I wish I had your guts! Maybe someday I will.

Look how you influenced those little girls! What a beautiful thing. What a blessing.....

Well you have just brightened my day....or night as it may be! Pray that it is they who influence Rome and not the other way around.Geezzzz, maybe they will be what turns us back around....! Thank you for sharing that Praetorian! :)

Yes that is the danger and the thing people are worried about that they may become "tamed" and afraid to stand up as much as they have in the past. We will see. At the very least they are an access to valid sacraments.

Plus no banjo's at Mass :)

Quite a lot of us here at MOG feel your pain. We have been barely surviving our liberal "churches" for way too long now. So, we have learned to accept it and live with it....but there is a limit....and we are reaching our limit. It is OUR church....Rome may need reminded of this.

The Church is the Bride of Christ and just as He is a good Son and does not permit His Mother to be abused I do not think He will take kindly to what is being done to His Bride either.

What a beautiful sentiment Pratorian.....you are so right....He would never allow that anything should abuse His Holy Mother. We worry too much....Jesus and His Mother have this......

Night....I didn't get my rosary in yet and I'd better before I doze off:)
    Sweet dreams everyone:sleep:

I vaguely remember the pre-Vatican 11 days. Those days weren't perfect and changes were required. I see no harm in Mass being celebrated in a language the congregation understands. I also see no harm in the congregation joining in the Creed and Confiteor. Harmful changes have been Protestant innovations such as turning our churches into little more than meeting houses, having the priest face the people, removing the altar rails and moving the tabernacle, making it no longer the focal point of the Church. They are the changes that belittled the Blessed Eucharist, leading people to lose belief in the Real Presence. Lack of belief that we are in the presence of the Almighty is the reason we can't hear our hears above the din before and after Mass; and it is the reason so few people genuflect before the Blessed Sacrament.

And it isn't just at Mass that I have seen signs of doubt in the Real Presence. I saw it at the Divine Mercy celebrations. With the Blessed Sacrament exposed on the altar, a man, presumably a member of the parish committee, behaved like an MC at a concert. He was up and down to the microphone near the altar like an umbrella on a showery day, announcing this, that and the other. A nun actually got up, stood alongside the altar where the Blessed Sacrament was exposed, and gave a lecture which was really a promo for Cardinal Kasper's book on mercy. I recall enough about the pre-Vatican 11 days to remember the nuns drilling it into us that the correct posture before the Blessed Sacrament is on our knees. While I can appreciate that the man was doing his best as a parish volunteer, I was appalled at the nun rattling on forever as though anything she did or said could be more beneficial than adoring Christ exposed on the altar.

Me too, though attending the Novus Ordo Mass, instead of a veil, I wear a hat or scarf. I wish and pray the Latin Mass be the only Mass in the new time. It could happen.

It's so sad when you listen to Fr. Martin's video when he talks about the holy vessels , chalices, tabernacles and other beautiful church artifacts that showed up in junk shops after Vatican II in the sixties in New York.
Beautiful altars and altar rails trashed and thrown into land fills.
Probably the worse change was removing the tabernacles from the center of the altar ....the center of our worship.....to the side, deminishing its status and importance. It got worse. Churches over time moved the tabernacles right out of the church all together. Yes, they managed to move Jesus right out of his own home. They called them reservation chapels. In reality, it was just a move to Make the church more of a meeting hall....much like Protestant churches. Congragrants had to fight with their pastors to just keep side tabernacles.I witnessed it in my own diocese.

There is a anti catholic agenda on going in our churches and these pastors need to be reminded that these churches are our churches...built and paid for with the the hard earned dollars of the people. We need to fight, protect and defend our church against any attempt to strip it's Cathoic identity in both the churches external catholic symbols and the very liturgy itself.

Like the slow boiling frog, we will die if we do not recognize and stop what looks to me to be more of this kind of "change" on the way.

We are baptized Catholics. We are not Protestants. Quit trying to make us them....

I do remember it very well. I was right in the middle of it. I went to parochial school through 6th grade and we had daily Latin Mass, religious instruction, First Friday devotion etc. it was bliss. In the late 60's it all went south. I attended a Catholic woman's college and the nuns all wore habits and were very straight arrow. Suddenly we came back one fall--I think it was 68--and the habits were gone and everyone was "hootin' and hollerin'" I wasn't a very committed Catholic at the time but it seemed wrong. I had a theology professor who questioned our beliefs constantly. "How do you know...."
I left--and went way out into left field. By God's grace in the mid 70's I came back but there was no Church as I remembered it. The only priests who were like the ones I knew growing up were Charismatic. They took the faith seriously and the Sacraments. But they were few and far between. I was devastated. It was like Rip Van Winkel waking up to a world he never knew. Gradually things got better but I never felt at home in the Novos Ordo. In 1976 I discovered Malachi Martin and then all the pieces fell into place. But you ask what being a real Catholic was like, it was serious, committed, prayerful, weekly confession, daily Mass, devotions, evening novenas at the Church, Benediction, the Stations of the Cross during Lent. Unity of doctrine, unity of belief, unity of practice. I compare it to dining on beautiful Limoges china and then suddenly being given plastic wear. Gregorian chant and venerable old hymns gave way to banal guitar "music" and the churches were turned into Elks Clubs. No statues, no altar rail, no angels holding lamps by the Blessed Sacrament. You couldn't find the Blessed Sacrament for years. Now at least here, He is back front and center. No hidden "chapel" thank God. But it is a real sacrifice to get to the Latin Mass. Fortunately we have some priests who say a very reverent Novos Ordo so that's what I attend. Hope this gives you a picture, Praetorian. To be a real Catholic now is to hold to the truth of the original faith of the Apostles and the Popes before the "spirit" of VCII and that means doing what you're doing. Reading and studying and learning.

I've been thinking about using a veil for awhile now. I wonder what's holding me up. Guess I'll go out and get me one.;)Anybody old enough to remember the days when we'd stick a kleenex on our heads to make a quick visit to the Blessed Sacrament when we were kids?
