This is the first time I have attempted to start a thread, so I hope this works

I just want to thank the person here who mentioned the Scriptural Rosary several weeks ago. It has been of enormous help to me recently since, I'm sorry to say, I have been finding it harder and harder to keep up a daily Rosary. Truth be told, I got into the habit of 'putting it off till later' and, sadly, some days 'later' never came :(

I thought I would repost it in case there is anyone else on the Forum who, like me, is struggling a bit with prayer these days. It really helps me to stay focused on the Mysteries.

Thanks again to whichever one of you prayer warriors brought this to my attention :)

You are welcome. All prayer requires the Fire of the Holy Spirit to start thing a blazing. Perhaps sometimes it takes us a little while for the fire to start burning to remind us of our total need for Him.

But to seek Him is already to find Him.

Yes, prayer apps and rosaries on youtube have been essential to me sticking with a rosary daily. Also, even though I am a total night person, I always pray before going to work, even if I work at 7:30am. It is ironic that that is the time that has worked for me, as it is counter-intuitive. When you do start to develop a regular prayer routine, desire and determination is a big part of the equation. I think grace takes over from there. But those prayer apps have been a life saver...and real good coffee too, which is part of my incentive for getting up so early. Keep it up Inis!

Thanks, Potato Sack. I appreciate - and need - the encouragement.
Is there a particular Rosary app you would recommend?

I use the Laudate app....it is free and has many rosary selections....I LOVE Scriptural Rosary with Melissa which I do every morning....they also have the mass readings, etc....a wonderful Catholic app...Saint of the day, etc....

I listen to Gregorian chant in the morning and evening while do Liturgy of the Hours....that is on Pandora for free, some commercials, but worth it.

there is also a Holy Rosary App and I Breviary app which are wonderful.....

I would not be able to stick with my rosary, like PS if I didn't have these wonderful apps to guide me everyday....

    Hi Inis,
My regular rosary is an app with Fr. Kevin Scallon and Dana. Father provides the meditations and Dana provides the songs. I love this rosary because it incorporates a song to the Holy Spirit, so I really feel the HS is right there with me, which feels great. It finishes with the Litany to the Virgin Mary. It takes about 30 minutes. If you google "Father Kevin Scallon" you will get links to youtube for each mystery. I believe he also has a rosary CD on amazon. The app for my tablet is just called "Traditional Rosary" and I found it when I searched for "audio rosary" in google's playstore and it seems to be the same as what is on youtube. There is another one I do that is more scriptural with lots of music too and that is called Rosario. This app is on my table.

Like Donna, I use Laudete for the readings and saint of the day. Sometimes I do the rosary on there from Catholic Bridge. There is also a great Divine Mercy podcast on there with nice music. I also found a great Divine Mercy audio app on Google playstore with lots of reflections from St. Faustina's diary so it is really, really good. That app is called Chaplet of Divine Mercy audio...which is probably what I searched under in the playstore.

The other thing is finding the time where you can consistently pray daily. Like I said, I do it in the mornings which is very unlike me, since I am such a night owl. It goes to show you can't rule anything out and just keep trying a different prayer method or different time until it sticks. Our Lady needs your prayers for her intentions ;)

    Inis,
I get up with my coffee one hour earlier at 5am to do my rosary and morning prayers....it took a couple of weeks to get used to doing this, but starting my day off this way is incredible for how my day turns out....I can't get to daily mass due to work and family constraints so I watch it at 7pm on EWTN and receive spiritual communion...God understands.

Thanks, Potato Sack, for taking the time to type out all of this advice. There is certainly a lot of support material out there. Now I have no excuse ;):ROFLMAO:
I will try to get some of these apps on my phone so I can say the Rosary as I'm driving to various work meetings.

I must admit that for many years, I neglected praying the Luminous mysteries, preferring to focus on the mysteries I learned as a child. It was after becoming a parent that I gained a new appreciation for the mysteries of Light. While meditating on the Luminous mysteries, we hear TWO loving parents speaking in unison about their beloved child, Jesus. We hear our God the Father and our Blessed Mother telling us, the world, to "Listen to Him." What a gift! What a sacrifice!
During this Advent season, when the world is in such darkness, may we recognize this Light, our Savior Jesus, and "Listen to Him." O come let us adore Him!

I love the scriptural rosary. I made one of my prayer booklets last year of the scriptural rosary and it has been a great companion. I too have been struggling with the rosary and had not said it for some time, but began again this week and am trying to keep up with the daily rosary. I will try to upload my pdf of it but don't know if it will work. Ok it did not work. If anyone wants the pdf of it or booklet form via Word document, just send me a personal message with your email, and I will send it to you! It is 44 pages long and has pictures and a few songs to read between the mysteries.

I love the Rosary. People can get themselves in trouble when they think that they have to say the whole rosary. When in fact, to say one decade, slowly, can be all that is needed. If said slowly, it can take 20 minutes to say a decade, it can be a great help to center. I also don't always use the prescribed mysteries but ponder over some part of scripture that I read that day for my Lectio Divina. The Rosary is a prayer aid, not an end in itself. Of course, the prescribed mysteries are what I normally ponder. It can be a simple meditation, on one word from the mystery. For instance, in the first joyful mystery, I will often just focus on the "FIAT of Mary and my own fiat.

The FIAT of Mary, contains so much!
    When one considers....
The unknown that Mary was embarking on!
The Sorrows she knew would ensue!
    The trust she exhibited!
    The humility she embodied!

Our Lady's "All", was for God! and only for God! nothing was kept for herself!

Sometimes the thought of Our Lady's holiness, crushes my sences and I stand motionless and transfixed before her, unable to comprehend!

PS.....edit. I am now editing this post for the forth time, I'm sorry about that! I'm doing this editing Because I don't know how to say whats in my heart! I sometimes find when I meditate deeply on Our Lady's sorrows I become an emotional wreck through that prayer! and sometimes I need a break from meditating deeply, do others also find this? maybe this is because I am still a child in my prayer life?

Applying the rosary to ourselves is the centre of the Rosary. It is when it goes into full technicolour and becomes alive for us. Or to put it another way it's the point at which it very much ceases to bore.
