That is calling a spade a spade. We live today having false compassion and false tolerance pushed at us in all directions that people of good will begin thinking "they" are right and eventually they wear you down to accept what you would never have accepted until 20 years ago. This would never have happened had Freemasonry not entered into high offices within the Church. It should have been stomped out when it started, but it gained strength as the good did little to nothing about it. Now we deal with it in the extreme minority of believers. God will make the Church stronger after the Warning.

Legalism is also a huge problem, in the sense that some people think that they can buy their way into heaven by following rules. Holding an apple and standing very still in a field does not make one an apple tree.

In truth there are no liberal Catholics.
    Nor are there conservative Catholics.
    Nor are there traditionalists.
    Nor are there modernists.
There is just Catholicism. You either accept it all or you are not part of the Church.

There are orthodox Catholics and heterodox Catholics. There is also orthopraxis but that's another debate ;-)

Can you give an example of this 'huge problem'?

There is some leeway before a person's thinking goes so far that they are actually espousing full blown heretical beliefs, but unfortunately today I think far too many people think they are holding heterodox views when in fact they are actually holding full blown heretical beliefs.

Where are all these legalists people talk about?

The pews are empty in Europe.

Depends too what you mean by legalist.

Jesus preached on the 10 commandments - legalism!!

The Bible is full of legalism - Jesus told his followers to obey the Law of God.

The Pharisees and the teachers of the Law are experts in the Law of Moses. So obey everything they teach you, but don’t do as they do.

I am so tried of this refrain. What churches are you going into where everyone is holding to the letter of the law too much? I have never seen one. Not ever.

What I have seen is a huge amount of laxity among the faithful regarding what the Church teaches. Now that is a HUGE problem. Things would be a heck of a lot better if people actually started paying a little more attention to the precepts of the Church.

Holding an apple may not make you a tree, but following the precepts of the Church does make you a Catholic.

Oh - it gets worse - obedience to the teachings of Jesus is necessary for salvation!!

Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.

If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and remain in His love.

If someone claims, "I know God," but doesn't obey God's commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth.

A liberal Catholic is someone who doesn't like commandments!

They don't like being told what to do and are unteachable because they thing they know better than mother Church.

They are the ones who would ask Jesus to come down of the cross because they cannot abide a Suffering Saviour.

The Cross and crucified, bloody saviour is an embarrassment to the liberal.

Liberal Catholics are people who use the term legalist as a label to name call those they do no agree with.

Liberals don't like debating because they are always right.

Wow!! I never knew Pope St Pius said this. It has such a very modern ring , as though he said it just seconds ago. So apt and true.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen and Mother Angelica are like this too . I listen to them and the things they say are as if they said it seconds ago.

I suppose the saints are like this in that what they say have an effect in Eternity, I mean that what they say is eternally relevant. I like St Pius, he had a foul temper and threw punches, very Irish.

I thought I had died and went to heaven at mass this morning. Such joy.

The 'black and white" of the Catholic faith is what I treasure about it. This is how I know it is the one true faith. God is the same yesterday, today and always. God is Truth, thus truth cannot change. It cannot be watered down. This is the one point I have argued on-line since the day's of the infamous "modem" coming out in the early 90's, in debates on a nonCatholic web sites (until the modem cut out (n) in the middle of a heated discussion) and that is this>>> IF you can find just one (1) doctrine on faith and morals within the Catholic Church that has changed (not developed) within the faith, I will leave the Church and follow none from then on. Just one! Yet, I can find dozens in every other 'christian' denomination that have changed. This is the benchmark of Christian orthodoxy!

If a puppy becomes a dog, that is development (which is what church teaching does). If a puppy becomes a cat, that is change (which is what every Christian denomination split from the Catholic Church teaches). True, one cannot 'buy' their way into heaven with "legalism", one has to apply/live the faith teachings of the black and white, which is all spelled out the Catholic Catechism of the Church. The Catholic Catechism is is one of St. John Paul's greatest treasures he gave the Church, so all may have within their hands the teachings of scripture and how to interpret it based on 2000 years of unchanging truth.

They will sing a different tune when they are deep down in hell.

It reminds me of Padre Pio. One time someone said to him,

'Father I do not believe in hell!'

    To which Padre Pio said,

'You will believe in it when you get there'.

    Good for Padre Pio
