Does Satan know the future?

I am wondering all of your thoughts on this? Is there a right or wrong answer and can we prove one way or the other if Satan knows the future?

I believe he can only predict future events based on projection. Remember he knows the scriptures inside and out so he must have the overall picture of salvation history (like looking at a puzzle from a distance). But the overall picture is very broad so the many events (individual pieces) may not be discernable to him. Just a thought.

    That is a good answer.

I would think the satan has a plan to destroy life at every chance he gets. I think he tempts especially those in power, why else have we got abortion and homosexual marriage legalised. And it seem like euthanasia is on the rise globally.

Where else would murder, rape, robbery, defiance and violence come from, certainly not the Holy Spirit.

We have the tools to defeat every assault of the satan in the Ten Commandments; but who wants to be bothered to keep them for our own sakes as well as for God's sake.

  5. He has a complex way to make his projections. It is a mix of observing directly the same elements of astrology and what we understand of occult methods based on astral plane or middle plateau, it is like he has some domain of the same elements present in preternatural powers (remote viewing, telekinesis, etc.). Adds to it a complex and advanced intellect which understands everything without the need of reasoning, just a glimpse to know everything.

But I think the satan is blinded by pride and rage and he is a liar. Now we do know that liars get themselves caught up in their own lies, so it would make sense the satan gets caught up too. And when you think about it people are blinded by rage, blinded by pride. I think the blinded refers to a darkness in the use of intelligence. We humans are negatively affected by these passions too. And they are certainly not from the Holy Spirit.

Satan doesn't know the future. Satan however is able to make some quite accurate predictions by just looking at the behavior of someone. Anyway, we should not forget that Satan is the most intelligent being second only to God, given that God didn't deprive him of his intelligence... for now. So, does Satan know the future? No, but he is filled and acting with fury, because he knows that his time is short... really short.

My thoughts are similar to all of yours but God is all knowing and Satan is not. In other words, God knows the details and Satan does not.

Satan has access to scripture as Little Me stated and astronomy as Prince of Peace stated and would know what we have been told at various apparitions which have occurred.

I did some reading about Ezkioga (sp?) and it occurred to me that no crucial information was given in a message, it was all information that we would have been told elsewhere and no details.

I wasn't trying to lead anyone into a trap but I do believe that it is interesting that the Garabandal seers were given specific information about a bishop synod occurring in the future which has happened and the pope will go to Moscow which hasn't happened yet. In my opinion, I think it is wise to take a wait and see attitude on Garabandal. I am not trying to convince anyone on MOG or anywhere else because how could I possible be 100% certain but something just tells me that this may become an approved apparition in the future.

    Love to all of you.

Okay, maybe I was trying to lead you into a trap but with good intentions, certainly not to have an argument that's for sure.

I think that God had to shackle the Devil in some respects otherwise he would ahve had too much power down here when he fell to Earth.

I think , for me one of the signs that he is limited in his knowledge of the future was in his behaviour towards Jesus (and also the Holy Family/Our Lady) whilst they were on Earth.

The best example of this was the Crucifixation and Death of Jesus Chirst. Satan tempted Chirst n the Desert with three different scenarios. That He be be King , that He be Magician, that He be Materialist.

Satan clearly missed the point. That Jesus has been sent as Sacrificial Lamb. He made the mistake of Judging Jesus by his own standards. He thought if he could push Jesus enough , Jesus would kind of superman Himself to burst out of His chains and sufferings. We see this in His remarks to Peter when he pulled our the sword and lopped of the servants ear.

    Matthew 26:53

Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?

The devil never for a moment reckoned Jesus would ever really let Himself be crucified , tortured and killed. For him it was incomprehensible, so full of pride was he. In either case Satan would never have wound everyone up to do this as by doing so he would, effectively have been cutting his won troat and destroying his won Kingdom.

The point at which he cottoned on was when jesus died. So he did not know the future. he was totally blind
sided. This was well portrayed in the film the,'The Passion of the Christ'.

But he can often work things out very well indeed.

We see this often in the lives of the saints, when he attacks them right from childhood.

Padre Pio was a good example. But Satan's own pride often blinds him. He simply cannot understand humilty and so Our Lady and her actions totally baffles him.

Well, here's the thing about the synod.
The idea of establishing a group of bishops to assist the Pope in governing the church emerged in 1959, when Cardinal Silvio Oddi proposed a permanent consultative body of bishops drawn from many parts of the world to discuss major concerns of the Church. The same year Cardinal Alfrink proposed a permanent council of specialized bishops to legislate for the Church in union with the Pope and the cardinals.

But when was it given the name of bishop's synod?
On 15 September 1965, as the Council was drawing to a close, Pope Paul VI took matters into his own hands and set up the Synod of Bishops.
I got the info from Wikipedia also, like I said we can't be 100% certain but time will tell.

I have never thought about this question before, but am starting to wonder some things. Satan was in heaven with God and all the other angels. Heaven is outside of time and all linear time that we are going through now would be known in heaven. We also know that satan wasn't cast out of heaven right away (at least I think we know this right?) Satan had interactions with God in the OT (Job) and was used as a tool in a way by God to test and tempt His faithful. He is clearly cast out in the end times as seen in Revelations which many believe to be now. Using Catholic prophecy Satan would have entered down here in the earth with us possibly just within the last several hundred years and woe to us when he was cast out by Michael and the war in heaven because the dragon the old serpent is among us. Now maybe this occurred more like in the time of Christ since he was tempting Christ in the desert. But was this the devil who was cast out or the devil who was still being utilized to test the faith by God. Regardless of when, at one "time" the devil was in heaven so would have known the timeline of creation unless shielded by God. Of course whenever he entered our time line he could have been blinded by God as well.

Correct. We cannot say the devil knew nothing about a synod earlier than 1965. This is the date it was declared officially but obviously not the first time the phrase was coined.

This is something my family has pondered just recently. Emmett on Unveilingtheapocalypse has a great write up about it. He believes (based on astrological phenomenal given in Scripture) that Satan fell at the turn of the Millennium. Mind boggling!

Do you have proof of the first time the phrase was coined? All I could find is what I posted...I will search more and see what I uncover but Wikipedia reads like the group of bishops wasn't given that name Synod until 1965.

    From Unveilingtheapocalypse:
In the post The Year of the Dragon, we have noted several prophecies which linked the turn of the millennium with the eschatological Fall of Satan (which is to be distinguished from his primordial fall from grace detailed in the Book of Genesis), when the Devil would be cast from the heavenly court to earth, upon which he transfers his great power and authority to the Beast that rises from the sea, and the inhabitants of the earth are given his mark.

This is a good discussion. I am sure that we will find many ideas but we will not be certain of any of these.

That information is unavailable. But we have the years 1959-1965 as a time frame.

The first time I heard this I was like "wait...what??!!" I had no idea there were 2 "falls".
